Opie
It's Japanese built Legacy's only, all the USDM Legacy's are built in Indiana, so it does not apply to us.

MSB
It may be the sway bar bushings already mentioned here... http://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php?p=127748#post127748 ... appears to affect the early models.

firedawgs
There is another thread regarding the same issue. Remember that the JDM rear swaybar is bigger too; 17mm vs. 20mm. By the pictures I saw, it looked like about 2 1/2" clearance from the bar to the break linkage. I don't see the issue myself. EyeFlyIsTheEye
Of course it does. After all, according to Xinhua, China's state-owned news agency, Subaru is actually a division of GM. does this mean that americans make better cars than the japanese? Jon in CT
Subaru issued two recalls in Japan on Feb 14. Well, actually, it announced one safety defect recall and one service campaign. The Japanese details of the safety recall are at http://www.fhi.co.jp/recall/data/05-02_14.pdf. Strangely, SOA had reported this foreign recall to NHTSA a month before SOJ's recall was announced. SOA's report is at http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/prepos/files/Artemis/Public/Foreign%20Campaigns/2005/F-Campaigns/FRCL-05F002-3657.PDF and it explains why the recall isn't applicable to North American cars. The Japanese details of the service campaign are at http://www.fhi.co.jp/recall/./sc_data/05-02_14.pdf. It involves cars with 3.0R engines and sport shift automatic transmission. In the US, SOA began a service campaign, WWV-06, on Feb 23, 2005 to correct the same problem. A description of WWV-06 can be found at http://techinfo.subaru.com/html/displayPDFDesc.jsp?doc_id=75852. Since the fix is to re-program the TCU, expect any affected car to be out of service for a few days while the TCU is mailed to SOA for a reflash. gt_ltd
has anybody had his/her TCU re-programmed? if so, how long did it take? i will probably wait until summer since this doesn't look too critical to me... This Space For Rent

No mailing will be required. It is just a software update and can be programming at any Subbie dealer. At most it might take them 15 or 20 minutes to update. -S
