Zues Marine
if youre referring to your rear strut bar, any bar from a 93-03 impreza/wrx will fit http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t232/wakeboardingguy/sss102.jpg
TexasLegacy2.5GT
"BD wag". I thought a BG was a wag....and a BD was a sedan. Anyways Zues will that same deal fit in my BD?
Zues Marine
youre right, i didnt even notice that..lol bk/bg are wagons bd are sedans but yeah, it fits sedans too, its much more of a PITA to install though, haha
TexasLegacy2.5GT
I think my rear seats cover the whole rear pillars.
Zues Marine
you can get to it through the trunk
Kennyfvholla
There is almost no point to installing a tower bar in the rear. Yes, it will still increase rigidity, but not enough to actually matter.
TexasLegacy2.5GT
Well we can always just stitch weld the entire sub frame on the car like Johan did on his "GyroDisk" BD Legacy!
Kennyfvholla
I definitely plan on doing that to my wagon one day if I keep it
Sludgeroo
It makes a noticable difference in wagons.
Sludgeroo
Bd- sedan bg- wagon (raised roof) bk- wagon (clean roof)
johnegg
off topic bg- wagon (raised roof) bk- wagon (clean roof) i know this is what they are called, but the cargo space is not dramatically different. and i don't think the rear hatch is any different at all. so how is it that the outback has a raised roof? i wonder if it really has a dented stair step roof and 90% of it is the exact same height as the L or GT wagons. ok, back to your strut bar discussion. pleaidestar
That's a beaks bar for a civic, is that what you mean? Honda also has support for a rear strut bar like Subaru, aftermatket manufacturers havent developed anything like a x brace for our vehicles, probably have to custom fabricate those. That does however look like some fun to design and fabricate..
pleaidestar
I made a harness bar for a friends evo that tied into the top of the b-pillars, are you trying to strengthen the front cab or rear cab? C-pillars are the sail panel to rear strut towers by the way, rear strut bar c-pillar bar = same difference.
Zues Marine
yeah there isnt anything aftermarket in that sense.. custom is the way, ive also been thinking about this
pleaidestar
I think a bar like that would be really cool to make for both sedan and a wagon. You probably wouldn't have to take the seats out of a wagon to make it work and keep the usable space. The sedan on the other hand would be more of a track use only or no rear seats. For a sedan the fabrication would be tricky, would have to cut a little out of surrounding sheetmetal from the strut tower in a sedan an come up with a step in so the bars rest against the seats when you close them. pleaidestar
http://s1.uploads.im/aen8s.jpg That's a pretty cool set up from a wrx it. I think that one bolts to the rear frame rails
b20novtec
http://s1.uploads.im/t/Waem2.jpg yea something like that
pleaidestar
Those bars are nice but because of the suspension differences in macpherson and double wishbone it would be impossible (nothings impossible though) for a fit up like that...as far as I know there isn't a brace like that available through spt or any other aftermarket company. pleaidestar
Are you talking about something like that for a wagon or a sedan? I bet the rear seatbelt mounts are on the same area between the two.
