baconbits
Get a downpipe and an Accessport before you get a header.

speedracer6
awww ok. That header ok for later though?
fahr_side
You won't gain much, if anything, using a header with the stock turbo. The turbo itself is far more restrictive than the header at this point. At this stage, about the only upside in going to a header would be going to an equal-length model and losing the blub-blub sound. Buy a downpipe and get tuned to stage 2. Obligatory 'build thread' Increased capacity to 2.7 liters, still turbo, but no longer need spark plugs. baconbits
Equal length = no rumble. Why buy a Subaru at that point?
fahr_side
Equal length = 20whp / 20wtq over UEL. Why buy a header if it doesn't get you that performance? Obligatory 'build thread' Increased capacity to 2.7 liters, still turbo, but no longer need spark plugs. SpecBlitzed
Buy a Subaru for the Rumble. Pshh. You can make any 4 cylinder sound like a boxser with an UL header
baconbits
Yeah, but you lose power along the way. Who pays to lose power?
fahr_side
Yeah, but you lose power along the way. Who pays to lose power? People who buy UEL headers for a Subaru, or worse yet buy an UEL header for a car that came EL as stock, that's who. Obligatory 'build thread' Increased capacity to 2.7 liters, still turbo, but no longer need spark plugs. baconbits
People who buy UEL headers for a Subaru, or worse yet buy an UEL header for a car that came EL as stock, that's who. That's what I was getting at... Port/polish and a Grimmspeed crosspipe is about all I'd ever do. At stage 2 or 3 on a DD car, I'm never going to miss that 20hp. I should say, that 20hp sacrifice is worth having the rumble so I don't sound like every other EL header, 4 banger on the road.
fahr_side
Port/polish and a Grimmspeed crosspipe is completely pointless, with gains that cannot separated from sampling noise. Fixed. Nrw
I still haven't heard a boxer with a ELH that sounds like an inline 4 in person  ELH or stay stock. The invidia 1.5scroll is a lovely piece. Similar to the full race piece.

wonderbread
Thread's not QUITE dead yet, right? Still 2013 lol Everyone has addressed the performance gains, but none the reliability gains. Having an ELH means your engine's exhaust pulses aren't fighting for space in the pipes, in fact they'll draw eachother out through exhaust scavenging. Biggest problem with any turbocharged Subaru: cyl 2 & 4 running hot = cracked ringlands. I just bought Invidia ELH to prolong the life of my stage 3. The hp & tq are just a nice side effect. wonderbread
And I really like that Killer B made a 4:1. I think that's the only 4:1 on the market. A little bit better than 4:2:1 for high RPM I believe?
