I have been looking into this, but everyone starts out with a disclaimer stating that the lift causes wear and erosion on various parts. I don't want to turn it into a maintenance nightmare.

I dont exactly see how that could happen. If you properly align, clean, and protect the car you should be good to go. Only thing I can really think of is the drivetrain, but its a small degree change from sus to outback/lifted
