Another Painted Grille

Earthworm

Recommended Posts

I liked the looks of all the others who had done this on this forum,

so I ordered the primer, base, and clear coats from PaintScratch.com

that matched my RBP, masked the grill, and painted away...

Couple of chips came off when I was de-masking, 'cause I'm impatient

and careless - when will I learn? Not too noticeable, though.

Guess I'll have to touch them up later.

Yes, L7's on both front and rear... The front was easy since I had the grille off for painting. The rear was a little harder having to squat behind the car and line up the emblem.

Whaich trim ring are you talking about? On the sticker? Is it coming off when you peel off the protective cover layer?

Earthworm,

Ayup - true to form, he replied right-away - and it looks like the sale is still on.

I'll be funding these on Monday. :) Thanks for that wonderful tip! :D

All I did was go to http://www.paintscratch.com and plug in my year, make, model, and color,

and they will present you with a bunch of choices - touch up bottles,

spray cans (which is what I got), buckets, anything you want...

Primer, base coat, clear coat, what am I - a commercial for these guys?!?! I should get a commision!!!

how much did you order to get the job done? and did you do spray can or?

I ordered a 12 oz. spray can of each (primer, base coat, clearcoat). I masked the grille everywhere except the trim and sprayed on about five coats of each.

I would guess there's enough paint in those cans to do this about three or four times...

Earthworm,

Thanks again for the JINSU-POWER "stacked-ovals" film tip. :) I have just ordered a set with "clear" middle (i.e. reverse-light) section.

This was just what I was looking for in trying to tone down the chrom-age of my rear section.

Sincerely appreciated.
