.blackgt.
Sounds like you should be fine. If it doesn't immediately block you as soon as it is plugged in, I think you are okay.
.blackgt.
You should have also asked for a picture of the AP in the car showing the unmarrying process at the least.
technicalgarage
As far as I can remember thats completely normal for an unmarried apv1. When you connect it to the car, you'll have to select the map you want to flash and it will marry it using that map (you can then switch to any of the others again using the ap). Once married your ap will show more options in the menu. Married stock mode is just there to run stock rom values without having to unmarry the AP (which takes a loooong time ~20 mins on an apv1). project13
The ver 1 you just bought is just fine. conect the green test wire, plug in the AP to the car, turn the car on, but dont start, pick your map and press enter. when done do in reverse, start the car and drive and do a 3rd gear pull, pull over and re start the car and it should be good to go. later if you upgrade just pay for a cobb AP, have them send it to you with maps pr loaded, then you can just write over the ver 1 maps and ren th enew AP, just send the old one in for a refund.
