Nothing against you guys. Really, the only reason I did it was for the 6 months no interest. It's the only reason I looked on eBay in the first place. If I had the extra money, I would definitely order them from someone like you.

No worries, but when we go out of business, and the eBay guys you order from know the part number and price and nothing else, remember you helped close down the knowledgeable shops like Msprank and myself by purchasing from eBay folks who pump and dump...

Boy, I guess I should have given my usual speal about buying from the vendor on this forum like the "Mikes" lol, back when I first posted in this thread.

OP, it really is true, you may pay a bit less, but if something was wrong, good luck dealing with the guy from ebay.

Wait, wait, Imma let you finish, but what oil lines should I buy for my VF52 swap? (figured i'd ask the knowledgable vendors. I'll buy from you, no funny business!)

The oil lines you want are the IPT ones that msprank makes and sells. We also sell them and the price will be the same no matter which of us you buy from. Great lines with a filter and heat shielding.

I'm a gluten for punishment! ;)

Guys. Look, I understand where you're coming from. I'm a snowboarder/wakeboarder, and I have many friends who have worked at local pro shops. They give me shit all the time if I order something online as opposed to their shop. I told them, sometimes it just comes down to convenience and price. All things considered, I will always support a local shop, but paying sometimes double the price for the same product logically makes no sense. Pride goes out the door at some point. Like I said earlier, I only went on eBay for the no interest deal as I didn't have an extra 200 bux right now, but I needed to fix these problems. Again, all things equal, I would have gladly supported someone on this forum. At the same time, had I never been on this forum, I may not have ever discovered AZP, so in a sense it's advertising for you guys as well. There's also nothing stopping you from selling items on eBay to supplement your shop/website. Many companies do it, like the shops I ordered these parts from. While I have no idea if they are on this forum contributing as well, they are still smaller shops trying to stay in business as well. I'm not trying to start anything, I was just trying to help out others on this forum who may also be strapped for cash at the moment, but need to make repairs. You're not helping your situation by attacking anyone. As I said before, I didn't know you contributed money to the site. A simple message asking to support dealers such as yourself would have went a long way instead of making me look like a bad guy for doing something that was necessary for me at the time.

Please don't mind us trolls. We sometimes come down to hard on the new guy's.

As you spend more time here you'll see, we realy are here to help.

I'm a skier. I ski a lot, I also buy from a ski shop in VT, most of my ski gear has come from one shop over the last 20 years. They are not the cheapest shop, but I can't tell you how much money they have saved me over the years getting things fixed for free and getting things done when I walk into the shop on a Satruday night and hear the guy in the back say, that's it no more skis tonight, we're to busy.

I stood behind 20 people in line, held my sons skis up in the air and hear the guy say, Byron what do you need. I tell him and he say's they'll be ready by closing time.

That's when its all worth it.

The point is, you came here asked for advice, got a ton of it, then proceeded to go elsewhere to buy it. It doesn't matter that much since we do about 5% of our business in selling parts. However, when my expertise is taken advantage of, it gets me fired up. Please, in the future email the sellers on eBay with your questions and see how fast or how in depth their responses are.

I have to jump in and just play devil's advocate for a moment. I have nothing against the vendors here and must say that both Infamous and AZP are probably some of the most helpful information vendors on this board.

I gotta stand behind the OP on this one. Considering the guy had a question, got some opinions and ordered off of Ebay because it fit his budget and also he couldn't wait to get these parts replaced. Your direct communications in regard to his question were you carried the parts and soccer moms don't complain about added NVH. Of course the plug for your business as well (which I don't blame you for in the least).

I understand that you have vast knowledge that you share willingly with members of this board and it is always appreciated. Some other members chimed in on this thread passing down some of the knowledge that you/your shop had imparted on them.

I just don't see how you can totally attack the guy for finding the best option for himself, given his financial standing and need to replace the parts sooner rather than later. I think any of us in a similar situation would make the best decision for ourselves/our car from the OP's standpoint.

And telling the guy to basically screw off and reach out to Ebay sellers for any future needs...c'mon. Had he had posted in your vendor forum, or maybe you had a detailed PM conversation with him that we weren't privy to, I would understand. But I do find jumping down his throat given the context of this thread absurd. It's instances like this that drive newer members away from great communities such as ours. Doesn't give them the chance to learn how this forum works, how to effectively utilize search, and who the best/helpful vendors are here (which in turn leads to eventual business).

Maybe it's Monday and I don't want to be at work, which makes me grumpy. I know I'm one of those lurkers here that doesn't have too much to offer up, but stuff like this gets me fired up a little when I fully read through the context of the thread. My flamesuit is on, and to not start a war, I won't argue any replies to this.

Again, nothing against the vendors here and the knowledge they freely share. Just think that we sometimes kind of forget what it's like being the new guy and not having a good working knowledge of the nature of the beast...and our beastly manly man cars. lol

Happy Monday!!

I understand the money thing, however, the OP didn't even reach out to find out our price, which in turn was less than $20 different than what he paid on eBay. Reach out, say "hey, I found it on eBay for $15 less, think you can match it?"

Trust me, I've sent many a customer to other place on the net where the price gap between what we can sell it for and what it can be had for is so large, I would be doing a dis-service in not sending the business away.

I just feel I spun my wheels posting in this thread trying to help the OP, and never even got a shot at getting the sale because he never even asked for a price from me but instantly went to eBay. That is where I feel I was taken advantage of. I'm sorry if I am making an example out of the OP, but we work our asses off to help the community.

I think everyone appreciates what AZP contributes to the community. Unfortunately, it is an open forum and people use the advice as they see fit. Going off on someone will only act as a disservice to the community and a deterrent for others to partake of your services. No matter helpful you are, you cant win them all, and in the case of the OP, money was more important than quality service. If he has issues, he'll learn the hard way. So lets keep it cordial. There is no better advertisement than a kind and helpful vendor.

Just wanted to give my two cents on this because sometimes I feel im in that situation where I should either give business to vendors or an outside source.

First off, I believe that since vendors are on the forums, its a given that they answers questions without expecting anything in return. You give your insight to show your passion for your products and willingness to help. Then, if the buyer sees fit that you have done him well then maybe (if price is a non factor) he will buy through you. But to call out and act childish about not having one person buy from you is just plain unprofessional.

I can understand where your coming from in that you put all your time in to help somebody out, but thats just business. Sometimes you get peoples business and sometimes you dont. But you leave a bad taste in peoples mouth specially for all to see, and havent been professional to admit you were wrong and to apologize.

Sometimes you have to offer your guidance and help to someday have somebody come to you over the other for your customer service.

Customer service is key to making a connection between consumer and supplier. I just think you went about handling it the wrong way.

But in fairness, I always try and let vendors know im in the market for a product and to give me their best price and ill tell them competitors price. However, sometimes you just need stuff now and other factors contribute to where the end result needs to be quick and easy.

Chin up AZP. Plenty of other fish in the sea.

I hear yah guys. Last note, give the vendors on here a shot to at least meet the eBay prices you see, especially if they have helped you out. That's all we ask.

Thank you to those who had my back. I think it's awesome what you guys do here, and I'm very greatful I found this forum. In all fairness, AZP, I had actually ordered the parts based on the first few responders, before I even saw your post. I agree with you, and the others, when mentioning an ongoing conversation. Had we gone back and forth, PMing, or what have you, I would not have gone elsewhere and would have ordered the parts from you. That is something I would not have done. Since these were just small changes/repairs, I was just looking for the opinions of a few before pulling the trigger. Being an employee in the service industry for quite some time, I know that you need to build value over time and you definitely can't upset a potential customer on your first interaction. This is what shocked me. Look, I have no hard feelings. It's water under the bridge. I appreciate everything you guys do on this forum.

I guess I jumped the gun a bit. Tough market out there and if you search our posts we help as much as we can, and there are few items we are actually competitively priced on so it burns us to not get those sales.

It's just the Internet so no worries. Won't stop us from helping out folks, been enthusiasts for a long time always will be.
