rltrock Posted July 10, 2004 Posted July 10, 2004 Is one really necessary with the stock immobilizer? I don't really care about the "zone" feature.
CombatCQB Posted July 10, 2004 Posted July 10, 2004 Only if there are specific features you want to add.
Th3Franz Posted July 10, 2004 Posted July 10, 2004 I plan on having an aftermarket alarm installed. 2-way, shock sensor, vibration sensor, glass break sensor, and up to 1 mile range would bring me peace of mind. :D -Franz The end of a Legacy http://www.youtube.com/th3franz
axis008 Posted July 10, 2004 Posted July 10, 2004 Anyone know if CompuSTAR is good or not? http://www.compustar.org/ -ben
bemani Posted July 10, 2004 Posted July 10, 2004 It would be $500 for me to get compustar 2wss-a installed in my car (which I'm planning to do). I heard they're pretty good, uses alot of battery though.
L8apex Posted July 10, 2004 Posted July 10, 2004 Multiple "deterrent" systems always gives me a little more peace of mind but a factory immobilizer goes a long way. An alarm and/or a tracking device like LoJack or Boomerang help me sleep better at night. Nothing will stop theives 100% but at least you can get your car back (hopefully still intact). My two cents...
gtguy Posted July 10, 2004 Posted July 10, 2004 If somebody breaks into the car to steal something, they will be in and out before anyone can react. You want an alarm that will prevent theft, which the stock system does. Everything else just makes noise, IMHO. Kevin
jk Posted July 10, 2004 Posted July 10, 2004 will someone explain what the "perimeter alarm" upgrade is all about?
silversuby04 Posted July 10, 2004 Posted July 10, 2004 rather not have some guy choppin up my nice factory harness's to install aftermarket equiptment
fressshhh Posted July 11, 2004 Posted July 11, 2004 Although there are a lot of good installers out there, I still agree with silversuby. The stock alarm combined with maybe a type of club or clutch lock and good insurance should be fine.
Th3Franz Posted July 11, 2004 Posted July 11, 2004 I personally know a guy who is an expert at installing Compustar alarms. I plan to buy one from him, and I'll probably be able to get a regular 2W-SS installed for way below retail. -Franz The end of a Legacy http://www.youtube.com/th3franz
