Legacy Wagon
Obviously there is more to it than that... Maybe slight suspension differences and a tighter steering rack. I cant think of too many differences though...other than being turbo'd of course. Then again, I've never owned one or even seen one in Florida so you're probably right. Completely different engine, transmission, different struts, different springs, different sway bars. Different brakes, wheels, bumpers. Different sunroof, steering rack, and the list keeps going and going. Legacy Wagon
Completely different engine, transmission, different struts, different springs, different sway bars. Different brakes, wheels, bumpers. Different sunroof, steering rack, and the list keeps going and going. You're pretty annoying. I'm talking about the benefits, not the specifics. If it's for freakin looks, it's irrelevant in my opinion. Now I believe the description of more HP covers the engine and turbo and injection system and blah blah blah. The suspension differences cover the struts, the sway bars... even bushings for all I care. The brakes are 2 pots instead of single. Sorry...it stops better too. I'm pretty sure the guy was asking if it was the turbo model. Next time I'll just say yes so I dont have to go through the process of explaining that I was giving a general analysis for someone that asked a simple question. Hell, from now on you can just answer ALL of the SS questions, guru. Oh, and while you're in the process of guiding us all to enlightenment, please...finish your list. Dont leave out a single detail. I'd love to know every freakin thing down to each nut and bolt that's different between the SS and the standard Legacy.

Both of your posts made it seem as if you had no idea what you were talking about. It's more than "a hood scoop and a bit more power." You just saying "yes" would have been a better response, if you didn't actually know what the differences were. Especially if you think a hood scoop and a bit more power are the only benefits of an SS over a standard Legacy. I simply provided a complete answer, lest the OP actually believe you that an SS is just a regular Legacy with a hood scoop and a few more horsepower. Unlike you, who has never owned an SS, I've owned two of them. One of them making more than 370whp and 400ft-lbs. If its annoying to you to be corrected, then post correct information. monkeyposeur
Bac, how bout a link to your build thread? Did you post one up on BBS? Guess I could search for it...
BAC5.2
I slowed down posting on the BBS. I don't know that I posted much of anything technical in the final year I owned the car. It was fairly straight forward. TurboXS FMIC, PPG Straight cut dogbox, TurboXS GT kit with a 50-trim, and drilled injectors. A TXS DTEC was the only EM. It wasn't a GREAT setup, but it worked. I sold it in a rush after I got the new transmission in, because I needed cash to fund a trip to Japan. The new owner is the one who finally put the car on the dyno and got numbers... then his brother rolled it into a ravine shortly after, nearly killing himself in the process. Unfortunately the friend I sold it to was killed in a car crash in his 2.5RS a short while later. I have a friend with helical cut rally gears with a straight cut reverse. The forward gears aren't all that bad, but reverse is loud as crap. I applaud your endurance for putting up with the sound haha Dang dude. Sorry to hear about your friend
BAC5.2
All 5-speed MT Subarus have straight cut reverse. I drove that dogbox daily for 6 months or so before getting rid of it. I loved it, though it did prevent anyone from ever driving my car. I'd put a helical dogbox in my current OB without any hesitation. It takes a certain skill to drive them correctly, and I'm fortunate to have had the opportunity to spend enough time with them to pick up that skill. It was tragic what happened to my friend. He was too young to go. Legacy Wagon
I just meant he didnt get a specially cut reverse gear since it's just for reverse. It wouldnt make sense to get it done since you're not gonna beat on reverse. Just interesting hearing the difference between the two since he has a strengthened gearset. It was much quieter like the stock sound. Yeah. His is pretty sweet. I haven't had a lot of experience with it, but the car's pretty nice to drive. I didnt go beating on his car either though haha And yeah...but even 100 years isnt very long compared to eternity.

Legacy Wagon
XD Man, desert is one condition I really haven't driven in. Unless you count Utah, Iowa, Nebraska, Kansas...they're about as deserted as it gets.
