ehsnils
Subaru has at least three 6-speed gearboxes. 1. The WRX/Sti with DCCD. 2. The Gasoline 6MT. 3. The Diesel 6MT. The diesel 6MT has a larger range with a higher gear ratio at the top gears. If there are any other differences between that and the ordinary gasoline 6MT isn't something I know anything about. RochNY91TSI
Also, if I had to guess, the WRX would use the identical transmission as in the 5th gen GT's [cable shifter and all - which is good for those of us waiting for more short shifter options]. It's pretty much the same as the current wrx and 4th gen lgt with an additional gear (from the forum rumors I've read). It would make sense to use that rather than to give the new wrx a completely different STi based transmission
The B4
Has everyone forgotten about the 6 speed in the BRZ? [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

minuccims
What TQ is the BRZ 6MT spec'd for, and as stated for AWD?? That 6MT is focused on reduced weight and not be designed for much more TQ. Like it or not, Subaru has gone away from the solid shift linkage to cable. So the 6MT in the 5th gen may be the start point for WRX; consider most US cars optioned with the beefed up CVT offered with the 2.0 DI turbo. Let's hope the STI retains it's 6MT configuration. StoplightAssassin
We'll find out soon enough with what the BRZ 6MT is capable of. 10 or so turbo BRZs are currently running around and making passes. I've seen some Aisin units rated for 350 ft lbs of tq. The BRZ has solid gearshift linkage.
Loscaldazar
Lets see how many times we can say that the BRZ 6-speed is not suited for a turbo AWD car...
