Ktmking250
Call me slow, but I see everyone hooking their cars up via laptop, but can I hook my car up with a desktop computer? it's more fiddling around but should do the same thing....right? bmx045
You might have trouble fitting your computer desk into your car, including the chair and lamp will provide for a seamless home office experience while utilizing a mobile productive workplace. Moderators BarManBean Posted February 24, 2012 Moderators Share Posted February 24, 2012 Laptops are used because they're small, that's it. A desktop would work. Does your tactrix take and SD card? If so, that would be much easier. I don't know the exact steps, but you have to put some sort of log file on the SD card to tell it what parameters to log and then just plug in the tactrix with the card in it. It will take care of the rest, no need for a computer. "Bullet-proof" your OEM TMIC! <<Buy your kit here>> Not currently in stock
cryo
Everything can be done via a home computer other than flashing the car * unless you have a computer in the garage with a long enough cable which I have seen* Logging can be done via your tactrix and sd card so its possible, just not extremely easy. Ktmking250
I don't yet have at tactrix yet, I'm currently looking for one, since tactrix themselves are out. I will bring the desktop out to the garage and hook it up, not a huge deal. probably not the lamp tho lol. Thanks for the replies!
Moderators BarManBean Posted February 24, 2012 Moderators Share Posted February 24, 2012 why don't you just get a vag-com, since you have an '05? You can get one for ~$11 on amazon. bmx045
Manbearpig has a point, as long as you have a windows operating system, and not windows 7 home edition, it will do everything
Ktmking250
Did a little reading on it and seemed a little more complicated then using the software that comes with the tactrix. I've never done anything like this, and was looking for a smooth transition for when I do my infamous tune. after watching some of the youtube videos the tactrix setup seemed fairly simple and straight forward. bmx045
the tactrix setup with drivers is certainly better than setting up the vagcom
