btlegacy
Hey guys, I've MIA from the forums for a while but the Legacy was redone with TD05-20G, FMIC, Methanol, etc and ran an open source tune and run like that for a while but was having some issues with it. I ended up blowing a ringland on the #2 cylinder so right now the motor is out and at the machine shop. This is whats going in right now 100mm CP Pistons Manley H-Beam rods Nitride Cross Drilled Crank ACL Race Bearings ARP Studs STI 11mm Oil Pump Gates Racing Kevlar Timing Belt Covert Oil Pickup OEM Case Bolts OEM Water Pump OEM Tensioner +1mm Custom Nitride Valves BC Valve Springs and Ti Retainers Ferrea Valve Seals OEM Keepers OEM Cams Custom Oil Cooler Also, the 20g is coming off and we are fabricating some piping for a rotated Holset HE351 :-D There will probably be some more goodies that will go on Here is what number 2 looked like after we pulled it out http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/1038/cyl2.jpg 2005 Legacy GT 5MT Buy my stuff Here So I can build my 6.0L V8 Legacy GT Here
Max Capacity
Good luck with your new build. So, did you learn your lesson about open source tuning ? Once you make that kind of changes, you need to get the car to a Professional tuner and a wideband O2 sensor on a dyno. I'm sure one of us here can recommend someone local to you. If not call Brad at http://www.rlzengineering.com/ I'm sure he can send to someone with a AWD dyno. Tell Brad the old guy from CT with the yellow hatch who had his D16z6 head sent you. 305,600miles 5/2012 ej257 short block, 8/2011 installed VF52 turbo, @20.8psi, 280whp, 300ftlbs. (SOLD). BAC5.2
100mm pistons are a mistake. Push it, and you'll split a sleeve. It's happened on every stock-sleeved, 100mm piston car I've known that's tried to push it for power. Everything else can hold it... except the block. btlegacy
The car was tuned by a local tuner using open source on a dyno. The blowing up of the ringland was caused by some other factors that hapenned (bad gas and some leaks that caused it to lean out) 2005 Legacy GT 5MT Buy my stuff Here So I can build my 6.0L V8 Legacy GT Here

Learn your lesson on opensource? It is funny that my protuner had a wideband and a dyno and still managed to damage my vehicle. I have had 2 protunes and my e-tune from infamous is by far the best tune. My data logs are always clean as is my LV. Opensource has nothing to do with it. It is all about the tuner. I don't think we should be ragging on anyone. Just tell the OP sorry about the bad luck and hope your new build works out for you. :-)

btlegacy
I still believe in opensource tuning and know the issue was caused by an outside condition so I am sticking with it and trust the tuner. I am having second thoughts now on the 100mm pistons and will do some more research but may have to go to another block since this one has already been bored 2005 Legacy GT 5MT Buy my stuff Here So I can build my 6.0L V8 Legacy GT Here
