Tehnation
Anyone have a good explanation of how a stock 5mt clutch is supposed to feel and when it grabs. Seems I have to pin to floor to shift properly and is heavy. First time owning/driving one. Bought it used so I have no real reference.
goneskiian
Sounds pretty normal. How many miles on it?

goneskiian
95K is quite a few miles on a stock clutch. If it is indeed the original. Folks have had them last longer though.
iNVAR
My clutch was low and stiff when I got it at 37K miles. I think the engagement point continued to move lower until it was practically only 1" off the ground. At about 53K I went to stage 2, and the clutch started slipping a few hundred miles later. I replaced it with an ACT clutch and PP and WRX single mass flywheel. Engagement point moved up. But stiffness remains. So, dunno if the clutch being that low means anything but maybe be prepared to replace it should it start slipping... Might be a sign?
Zac88
at 145,000km on my stock clutch, stiff and engages pretty low too, sign that it needs replacement?
__raj
We just replaced ours with a stock clutch(115k) and it feels significantly easier to push. I thought I was getting old and tired of driving a manual transmission. However a clutch replacement I love it once again. Our throw out bearing was fully seized though.
