bmx045
Ok so I've had quite a few questions on my interior pics posted in my gallery thread. I chose to vinyl wrap the ghey looking fake plastic wood trim pieces, for a more sportier and better-matched material. This vinyl is 3m Di-Noc carbon, I applied it myself with a cutting blade, a hairdryer, and scissors. It's not difficult- except for the shift knob, needed to do that twice(first pic shows first knob attempt, other pic is the latest- note less weave stretching) it requires some good heat and scretching. All trim pieces come off except for the door wood pieces, I did it with them on the door. The 3m vinyl is supreme material, its as stiff as postcard when cold and when you receive it, as soon as you blow it with heat, it will conform around your fingers if its resting on your palm. Very stretchy and flexible. I got some of this material from my buddy Duey at http://www.dtlightinnovations.com , he wrapped my center pieces and then I did the rest myself. Best thing is, you can peel it right off without residue if you **** it up.
DRoc7822
Looking very nice sir! I have been looking for some pix of the woodgrain parts done. I wanting to either paint/vinyl my dash black and then have the side parts CF. But as I just now found out... there is no bezel on the cd player (I dont think anyways) so it would be kind of difficult to paint the top half of the stereo. You planning on using this stuff for anything else?
bmx045
I'd recommed a vinyl wrap rather than paint, this wrap is Very durable and made for high traffic areas and the environment. A lot of BMW brosephs use this material to wrap the roof's of their M3's. Currently I'm happy with the blend and the amount of trim I did, it doesn't look overdone, and the cd player bezel along with the small chrome accents work well- so I'll keep those. Perhaps my center window pillars (exterior) will be next! I haven't really investigated more options yet....lotta things to think about.... zambazil
Pretty flush & looks very good, esp on shift knob. I used 1080 on my impreza ac center vent. Making it stick around the complex inside edges made it easier with primer 94. Found out that hairdryer is more appropriate than a heat gun. Warps pretty quick. joedirtae09
did you remove the wood trim pieces and them wrap them or did you leave them on to wrap?
bmx045
the console pieces were removed, the door pieces cannot be removed unless you purposely break the plasti-weld they're held on by so i did the wrap while on the doors
planelazy
Looks pretty good BMX.. I was thinking that it looked terrible when I saw someone else's pics, but you did a great job and yours looks good. I think I might try the same thing.

journey
Like what you did -- how well has it held up? I was thinking about covering the wood grain with basic red, but I see that a red CF is available as well...
