LewisI
I have a 2008 Legacy which was mostly parked for about 4 weeks, Today after starting the engine it died and now the starter motor turns but not the engine. Is it possible that the battery has no sufficient power? or is there definitely something wrong with the starter? what should I do? I appreciate any help thanks
citka
Potentially a bad solenoid. Sometimes when they go bad, they won't engage the starter gear so the motor simply spins without interfacing the flywheel. Try it a few times and see if it engages. LewisI
I have tried several times but as you say the starter does not engage the flywheel, what would be the next step, remove starter? thanks
dwolson2
take it in for warranty, thats really fast for a starting component to go out(3 years!)
LewisI
Im out of warranty with almost 58 kmiles. I jumped started the car and it worked fine, I guess the battery was too low due to having the car parked for too long. I went for a short trip and it starts fine. I will make now some long trips to recharge the battery. Im glad it works for now.
citka
Check out "Battery Tender." Well worth the money for a vehicle that sits. I have many of them for bikes, boats, the SUV that never gets driven above $4 a gallon...
