overspool
not far at all! only 5 minutes, maybe 10 minutes in traffic. I have yet to actually race my car out there, I've only spectated out there once lol. But I can hear the big races from my house.

overspool
I had hoped to get the legacy built this summer, but it looks like the build will stop at Brembos for awhile. I need to get my AE86 running and driveable, and I need to save for a "ring". Girls man. I swear... they're takin all my money.
overspool
I decided to wait on powdercoating the brembos, and ordered wheel spacers today. Hopefully they'll be here in a week, and I can get the brembos on Then the rear H6 brake upgrade, and the legacy will sit pretty until the 86 is running, then the legacy will get a nice overhaul. overspool
I did something that most of you would never do. I fit a cusco stabilizer bar on my car. I cut a hole in the spare tire well to do so. http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y243/PygmyX/1999%20Legacy/P1010002-2.jpg

Zues Marine
cut a hole in the spare tire well to do so. that seems like it wont do anything, you put a bar on ya, but you also comprmised integrity of the chassis and made it much more susceptible to rusting out and such
overspool
I'll get more pictures when it's done. I haven't had time to finish trimming and weld it shut. Zues, It's not done yet, I've got to finish trimming the trunk and weld it shut around the bar. It is definitely more susceptible to rust right now, but I'll be using some seam-sealer and por15 to keep it from rusting once I weld it shut. I Donated broknindarkagain Posted June 21, 2011 I Donated Share Posted June 21, 2011 I've been curious how much has to be cut out to make these work. Its nice to see a picture of it. When I get around to it, I might throw some sti sways on my car (if they are not too wide) -broknindarkagain My Current Project - Click Here COME AND TAKE IT "The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing." overspool
for a sway bar, there is much more trimming that needs to happen. You'd end up trimming out like a quarter of your spare tire well for it. I've been contemplating cutting out the spare tire well completely, mounting a diffuser in place, and putting a full size spare on my roof. overspool
Just finished rebuilding the brembos. Just waiting for my rotors to come back from my machinist, and for the wheel spacers to come in the mail. They'll be on by friday! yay!!!
overspool
Also, here is a picture of me testfitting the sway bar and stabilizer bar: http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y243/PygmyX/1999%20Legacy/P1010002-2.jpg
overspool
Pictures of rebuilds: http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y243/PygmyX/1999%20Legacy/P1010006.jpg dust boots^ they popped right off like that, didn't tear whatsoever. http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y243/PygmyX/1999%20Legacy/P1010002-3.jpg pistons, here is the other part of the dust boot still attached to the pistons. http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y243/PygmyX/1999%20Legacy/P1010008.jpg old seals (top) vs. new. The new seals are actually O'reilly ones, I was surprised they had a rebuild kit. They seemed to be slightly larger than the ones I pulled out, but the ones I pulled out were extremely worn. http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y243/PygmyX/1999%20Legacy/P1010013.jpg http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y243/PygmyX/1999%20Legacy/P1010012.jpg And all nicely put back together. Turns out the spacers came in the mail, and I didn't even know it. They were sitting on my front porch.

If I still had my flaring tool I would've cut off the flare, slid a new nut on there, and reflared the hardline. But for now vice grips to get it on/off will work. http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y243/PygmyX/1999%20Legacy/P1010005-3.jpg They are quite a bit larger than stock haha. http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y243/PygmyX/1999%20Legacy/P1010010.jpg
overspool
I was having difficulty getting ABS to kick on with the stock brakes, but now it kicks on real quick. I have alot of pedal play though, so I'm going to pick up some more super blue and rebleed all the brakes again to get all of the old fluid out. I might upgrade to an STI master cylinder and booster while I'm at it. Also in the plans is to upgrade the rears to the H6 to even out the brake bias a bit. Right now I can practically do indos haha. I'm picking up my AE86 in the next week, and that will see more of my time than the Legacy.
Lookatmyrust
throw your plans for that on the forums too. when i first saw your post about the ae86 i had never heard of them. now i curious after driving one on some of my sim games. those handle nicely
overspool
I got to sit shotgun for a little dorifto action in one the other night. They handle totally and completely different than Subarus. The fastest way around a corner in an 86 is slightly sideways haha.

overspool
I had the motivation to work on my car again. A friend of mine gave me a set of Tanabe GF210 springs, and is letting me "borrow" some wheels from him since he just granaded his transmission again lol. http://a3.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/387698_299506236750944_100000747098749_1011240_537480858_n.jpg http://a7.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/393353_299505140084387_100000747098749_1011237_799857182_n.jpg
overspool
Here's the trunk that I hacked up to box in the Cusco rear stabilizer bar. http://a6.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/313148_268120393222862_100000747098749_908821_1517224967_n.jpg This picture is of it only tacked in, I stitch welded the whole thing and applied seam sealer/liquid weld and POR15. heresmymind
love the car. I almost did brembos, i bought them, powdercoated them yellow. then sold them because of wheel fitments. I ended up with 13/12" wilwoods that fit all 17s. -B
