iNVAR
So tips made a very huge difference in noise? Very interesting...!
CDN 2.5i
Bumping an old thread... I need to reduce the drone in the wagon from my cxlighting CBE, that already has a second Vibrant resonator welded in. http://i684.photobucket.com/albums/vv205/andrewolive/20120919_145904_zpsa5ff3e92.jpg The second resonator helped a lot, but not enough. I don't want to cut up the midpipe again to try and fit in a third or replace one of the existing. I'll either buy another exhaust/midpipe to put in one of the larger Magnaflow muffler/resonators but first, I'm wondering if extending the tips will help? Has anyone else got additional experience with extending the tips?
iNVAR
Resonators alter the frequency at which something vibrates. Putting in two resonators seems silly. You should have a muffler in there instead.
CDN 2.5i
I didn't put in two ;-), just added a second to see if I could further alter the resonance frequency. It did help, but not enough. I agree, a magnaflow 11219 would likely be the best solution but I was trying to work with what I had at the time and thought the Vibrant would fit well where it did. CDN 2.5i
Also, tips are reputed to have a significant effect - that's what I'd like to try first, possibly by just wrapping my current tips with some sheet metal and securing it with large hose clamps as a trial...
