SuperhawkLGT
Getting new tires soon 235/40/18 Looking hard at the Exclaim UHP's but after reading the reviews on tirerack I am not so sure. Anyone have a set they can report on? Thanks.
krzyss
What do you want from your tires? What is your budget? Krzys
psu_lgt
I'm looking at this tire too, along with the Fuzion ZRi. My budget isn't much greater than that right now. All of the reviews on tirerack from subaru owners pretty much loved the UHP's
rao
I have used them (not on a Legacy) and they were excellent. Rob IF YOU CARE ABOUT YOUR CAR YOU SHOULD NEVER DRIVE IT
toomanytoyz
I used them on my 95 Impala SS with a good heads/cam engine and six speed swap. They are great in the wet and dry, good on the dragstrip, decent on the autoX and roadcourse, too! For a wide tire (275/40/18), they are also VERY quiet and don't wander like my previous KDWs did. I highly recommend them for a good, all around tire. I've got about 20K HARD miles on them and they are still not to the wear bars.
mdennett99
Purchased a set of 225/40/18's last April and hated them. They deff felt like you were pushing the limit of the tire on a spirited drive. Wear was awful, needed new tires in January for inspection... Just my .
SuperhawkLGT
My budget is as little as I need to spend to get the best tire for the money. I do not believe a good tire should or needs to cost a fortune. I was originally looking at the Dunlops but the price seems to have gone up since I started my research. I drive strictly warm weather, I have dedicated snows. I don't push hard very often and mainly concentrate on wet weather performance. Most of these tires are fine in the dry but not so much when it's wet. I don't like alot of road noise, my FK451's drove me crazy after 10k on them. I would also like to have more than 300 treadwear, like them to last a while. I would max my budget at 600 if I absolutely had to.
SuperhawkLGT
Just checked tirerack again, the firehawk wide oval indies look pretty good.
krzyss
If Hankook Evo V12 is available in your size you may want give it a try. It seems to be decent daily driver with excellent wet performance. Krzys
Grinchy
The Exclaims don't seem to last as long as you would like, however, I had these (not on my legacy) and they did perform very very well. Sticky, couldn't feel any sidewall give.
SuperhawkLGT
I am really leaning towards the Firehawks now.
stanjk3
If you want longer treadlife you might want to look at a UHPAS tire instead of a summer tire. They've been recommended several times before, Contiextreme DWS http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=Continental&tireModel=ExtremeContact+DWS&partnum=34YR8ECDWS&vehicleSearch=false&fromCompare1=yes The summer version: http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=Continental&tireModel=ExtremeContact+DW&partnum=245WR7ECDW&vehicleSearch=false&fromCompare1=yes There's also the Michelin Pilot Sport AS+, but those are way over your budget. http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=Michelin&tireModel=Pilot+Sport+A%2FS+Plus&partnum=34YR8PSAS&vehicleSearch=false&fromCompare1=yes Friends don't let friends drink cheap beer.
