zx2guy19
Apparently reading skills zipped right by your head. Look at POST #21. /Continue thread. Nothing expected to be handed to me, but just remember, not all cars are the same. Thank you for the warning on the FMIC, but after bringing a Ford Escort to 350whp, I know what "customizing" stuff is. Those cars don't exactly come with a little package to get to that hp..it takes 75% customization. If the FMIC is ~1/8" off, I'm sure I can get around it. drewmanman3
zx2 lalgt is only trying to help, yeah he has a funny way of it but me being a noob to the whole subaru thing, ive read all of his helpful information as well as a few others. he's only trying to help, take it or leave it but dont go on callin people names and such. its jus not nice and it hurts peoples feelings. =[ lol
compsurge
Car was wrecked in the front. True it's not 100%, but it sure seems it. Subaru even said the car was perfectly in spec. I saw pictures of it previously (they are posted somewhere on this site) and it wasn't bad. Anyway, I think I'm going to go the exhaust route. Looking for a full catback with downpipe. I know it'll open it up and be sexy. To verify, this here would be appropriate? http://www.raceinspired.com/p-27448-dc-sports-turbo-downpipe-subaru-legacy-gt-25l-2005-2009.aspx?affiliateid=10065 Then get some type of catback with cans, and a tune? Does the Tactrix come preset with DP and exhaust tune? Anyone have a link for a decent place to get one? I'd like to stay around the $1000 area for right now...especially after paying cash for the car Again, sorry for the noob questions guys, just been in an entirely different game the last 5 years. I think what you'll find advice wise is to buy a CNT catted downpipe ($300ish), tactrix cable ($80??), and an e-tune from one of the forum vendors ($150ish). Expect the factory TMIC to fail eventually, so factor in about $500 for a new one of all metal construction.
zx2guy19
I don't have emissions in Columbus so I suppose a catless one would work just as well? http://www.infamousperformance.net/servlet/the-289/CNT-Performance-Subaru-Legacy/Detail Drew- Fair enough, I realize I'm a noob at Subaru's, but I'm not a noob at cars. compsurge
You could, but there will be the exhaust stink that follows you. The downpipe you sent will be fine. For the extra $100 you can't go wrong with a catted exhaust (search on the forum for group buys, the CNT catted is usually around $285 shipped). There is no noticeable gain to be had catless vs. high flow cat (only less $). Personally, I went catless with an invidia divorced downpipe, but bought a HFC CNT after a few months, as the stink was bad and I was feeling environmentally guilty. You will need a tune no matter what you do (Cobb Accessport v2 or open source w/ Tactrix).
LegacyDan
would an uprated Hyperflow TMIC be enough for a vf36 setup? im torn between that and the RacerX FMIC, need to find out if jdm fitment will not be an issue for Racerx one
dr_sharp
LGT means LittleGirlyTurbo. Hahahahahahhaha!!! Excellent! Now you've convinced me to go 16G. lol
dr_sharp
However... In my own personal experience. I was hitting 18.5 on a stg 2 tune. DP + CBE only. I went RacerX FMIC + Intake and got a retune. I am now hitting 20psi on my tune. The 46 can push a lot, but it doesn't feel like it wants to push through a FMIC. lol
Infamous1
I dont agree. Stock turbo's have a harder time keeping FMIC full. Not a problem with even the smallest turbo upgrade (vf39/16g) but more or less everyone loses 1psi on those stock turbos with FMIC. Can a lot of that be made up with a timing advance? A properly designed FMIC often times will pick up 15-20whp on even a stock turbo LGT...

LosAngelesLGT
A properly designed FMIC often times will pick up 15-20whp on even a stock turbo LGT... vs a aftermarket TMIC or vs OEM TMIC? NOT being a pain, Im serious. We could not hit my boost targets anymore remember Shamar?
Infamous1
vs a aftermarket TMIC or vs OEM TMIC? NOT being a pain, Im serious. We could not hit my boost targets anymore remember Shamar? Often times an aftermarket TMIC gains little or nothing over stock, so either way. That being said, yes I remember yours and the other 75-100 stg2 FMIC powered LGT's I've tuned You can't come to a conclusion solely based on 'your' experience and 'your' setup alone. Rememeber there are other FMIC companies out there with different designs and different results.
LosAngelesLGT
I meant: "Did you remember my tune out of the 100s of LGT you have tuned?" I asked because when I could not hit my target boost numbers on the vf40/racerX, I discussed the issue with several other people who also had similar problems hitting target boost numbers after going RacerX FMIC. Those with bigger turbos did not seem to have any sort of an issue. I was not looking to single out a particular design since I only have experience with one. I wrongly assumed the issue was more universal (meaning my particular car and setup).
Infamous1
Which is why I stated a properly designed FMIC kit.
