doctorbrody
If you want the Subaru 5EAT fluid, go to a dealership and haggle them down on the price. Check fred beans to see what a good price on it is. If you want the Amsoil Universal ATF (what I run) just get it from the Amsoil website.
ClimberDHexMods
I get my Amsoil by ordering it for pickup at a local Amsoil distribution location. Saves on shipping, since I buy large quantities. [CENTER][B][I] Front Limited Slip Racing Differentials for the 5EAT now available for $1895 shipped, please inquire for details! AWDPete
So it's "safe" to run the Amsoil universal ATF in the 5EAT? Does it mix with the OEM ok as I won't be able to suck it out of the converter?
fishbone
Yes it is safe and yes it can be mixed with any fluid but you'll be diminishing some of it's advantages. Best bet is to do at least 2 drain/fills if you don't want to do a pro flush, which is always an option. Numerous threads on here regarding this topic. utc_pyro
FreeSSM can properly read the transmission codes if you still think there are some in there. It's more ore less an open source clone of the dealer tool, with less capability.
tangcla
You can try resetting the TCU. Requires VagCom cable or Tactrix 1.3, and the FREE SSM software. How do you reset the TCU?
fishbone
He just explained how to do it. You need a VAG-COM cable or Tactrix 1.3, a laptop and FreeSSM. Or, you can go to the dealer and pay them to do it.The TCU does NOT get reset if you disconnect the battery.

fishbone
We are talking about the learned parameters. Once reset, they cannot revert back and you start from scratch.

Any and all adjustments to line pressure etc are not permanent. However, clearing the memory is.
