Baddog
Well I decided to just go ahead with my engine build. This is my current list for when I go to do the camshafts. Any other suggestions? Also I put in headgaskets on because don't the heads have to come off? 97400obw
I'm no expert and most of my experience with these engines has been the reading type (other than my swap) and there are many different opinions on just about everything but I've seen one constant. USE GENUINE SUBARU HEAD GASKETS!!!!!!!! Or you will be doing this again........
97400obw
Personally I'd buy a rebuild kit, hone the cyl's, put in a new set of rings and bearings. Freshen up the whole motor, very easy to do while you have it out.

ehsnils
Are you going to change cams or? I suspect that it's a bit outside of your budget, but I did find a set here: http://www.xcceleration.com/engine-packages.html
KuNomn
Are you going to change cams or? I suspect that it's a bit outside of your budget, but I did find a set here: http://www.xcceleration.com/engine-packages.html Granted I'm sure these guys have done more research specifically on these engines but these prices seem a bit outrageous. My machine shop guy has tons of experience working with race engines (his and others) as well as plenty of subaru experience and could probably achieve 80% of these results for 25% of the price. Baddog
Well I have been thinking about rebuilding the heads and I will be putting a delta 200 cam grind in. Nothing super huge. I should have mentioned I am going for just a little bit more power not balls to the wall. Amigo your link didn't work. Not sure why. Gives me an error. kaz98gt
If you decide to tear down the whole engine, definitely do the piston rings and bearings at least. But for just the cams, that sounds like a good start...port and polish maybe? jk...take pictures!!!
Baddog
Since i plan on doing the head rebuild I will look at piston rings and bearings. Seems like they can be had (both) for around 150? I will be peicing parts together.
