winnipegsubaru
Hey guys, Not sure if this is te best thread to put this in, but I want to add an oil temp and a transmission temp guage into my car. Wondering if anyone can tell me where the best place to tie these guages into would be. My Car is an 06 2.5i legacy with the 4 speed automatic. burnout8488
Seems like a wasted effort to me. Oil temp you could tee off the pressure switch, trans temp maybe you could tap into the pan with a probe? I don't think 4EAT's have any trans cooler lines you could tap into...could be wrong though. winnipegsubaru
I am planning to put a tow package onto the car, and the dealership is recommending a transmission cooler.... I just want the guages to keep an eye on the temps when I am pulling.
burnout8488
Excuse my ignorance, didn't think of that. I did a quick search and it appears that there are oil drain plugs that have a temp sender in them, maybe you could do that. For the transmission, it probably has a small cooler of some sort, or just bare metal lines that loop around and act as a cooler.
NORULZleggy
Get some decent price one's put them in the cubby hole. I think it would be cool just to flip the cubby up and BANG gauges. Like night rider mode or something.
naimouasta
auto's have use the bottom section of the radiator to cool it. there should be lines going there on the driverside.
cseagle08
For an oil pressure gauge I used a filter sandwich adapter. You could plug the oil temp sensor into that just the same. I think i got it from Perrin
winnipegsubaru
Thanks guys, The two guages in the cubby hole is what I was thinking. I know us NA guys dont really need guages, but I like them As for the drain plug for oil temp, I was reading on this forum, that our plug is an odd size and guys have been having a hard time finding one with a temp sender in them. If anyone has an idea where to buy one could you please show me a link? Thanks Also, what kind of guages does everyone like? I have autometer phantoms in my other car, thoughts? Thanks for replying everyone
cseagle08
I had autometer phantom 2's in my other car. really nice gauges. I eventually got bored with seeing it everyday and wanted to go back to factory.
winnipegsubaru
Hey everyone, Been looking for the drain plug with the temp sender in it. Cant seem to find it, This is a bump for anyone with info on this part please let me know Thanks
burnout8488
I read it on NASIOC, it may have been a custom part someone made. Your next best bet would be the oil filter sandwich adapter.

cseagle08
Does anyone know if the subaru tranny has a pressure test port? I was able to use that on a 4L60E, the temp sensor screwed directly into the plug, worked perfectly.
