bluewagon Posted July 28, 2010 Share Posted July 28, 2010 I own an '05 Legacy wagon 2.5i that I need to replace the rotors and pads on. The Subaru dealer is telling me that the pads on this particular car are the least common of the two types installed in this model year but the rotors are all the same. The aftermarket brake specialists only show one brake pad for the entire year. Does anyone know if there is a difference in the brake pads? Don't believe everything the dealer tells you. Well I guess you can trust the guy's on here from FredBeans.com There is a Brake forum here too, check it out. Only thing is most of the info here is for GT's. 305,600miles 5/2012 ej257 short block, 8/2011 installed VF52 turbo, @20.8psi, 280whp, 300ftlbs. (SOLD). CHECK your oil, these cars use it. Osei Posted July 29, 2010 Share Posted July 29, 2010 The Legacys (sedan or wagon) shared brakes. The dealer can tell you by VIN if needed what you have. It is a moot question though. They came with either 10.8" or 11.5" fronts. They use the same pad ie Hawk HPS 432F661. I know because my BL had the 10.7 (why Subaru goes all over with brake sizes I don't know) front, I had from an upgrade to my BE 11.4 slotted rotors. Sometime around the end of 2005 they decided to put the bigger rotor on the 2.5i and standardize things across the range but the pads are the same size. Dumba$$ dealer got it backwards.
