Hi, I just bought a 1998 Subaru Legacy GT Wagon from an auto auction a couple days ago. It was originally supposed to be an "in between" vehicle as I had my truck stolen form my workplace a week ago, but it only took a day to fall in love with it. I've owned other "tuner" cars and found forums EXTREMELY useful, so I decided to join this one. The car has 217k km (135k miles). Super clean inside and out, had all the service records with it. It came off a dealership, and only needs a new drivers side axle, and rear R and L sway bar links, about $750 parts and labor where I live in British Columbia. I've attached a few pictures. I already have a CAI coming from Cosmo Racing, and some NGK performance wires from Club Plug. I'll post pictures once installed, but in the meantime, here are a few of the car now. Paid $2700.

but the roof rack can do anything! haul something ridiculous but pointless around on the rack haha. good buy too, love the 5 speeds! first question: does it still have a 2.5 in it? and if it does, do you know anything about the condition of the headgaskets?

Yes, it has the 2.5 in it, but I have no clue about the condition of the head gaskets. All I know is the engine is very strong, and its been serviced regularly according to the records in the manual. As far as the roof rack goes, its an aftermarket rack that pops on and off in a matter of about 3 minutes, so if I need to haul anything, I'll throw it back on.

There is a buttload of service records in the booklet that comes with the car, but no details, so that being said, if it has 217,000km on it, shouldn't the HG have gone on it and been fixed by now? You're guaranteeing that no matter what, the gasket is going to go regardless of anything I do?

Ok, got both the rock guards off and here's a picture for the guy who wanted to see a Subaru without a roof rack. Gotta say, I have a new found hatred for rock guards. They're supposed to protect your paint, but they sure do a lot of damage underneath them. Time to but a power buffer...
