thestratomaster
They dont make any closest thing would the the AVO intake for 2008+ Impreza 2.5i I thought they did make some....I also thought pretty much any NA impreza one would work?
whitetiger
no. older N/A subarus did not have MAF systems which need to be adapted properly to a intake to work.

thestratomaster
Oh, I thought some impreza one's were applicable with mine, and mine does have a maf...so no?
whitetiger
IF the intake is meant for an impreza with MAF then it might work. thats why gee-otto said impreza 08+ cause after 08, all N/A imprezas were MAF. the reason why they still might not work, is filter location. most intakes have mounts to stablize the filter end. Intakes for the impreza may not bol up right on the legacy. you one may have to make a custom bracket to make it work. also the pipe may interfere with components in the legacy engine bay. apexjapan
I'll be able to check if our NA power air intake for the 08 Impreza fits the Legacy/Outback 2.5i's in a couple of days. It gets down to the MAF design, there was some differences in the actual MAF sensor used. Rest of the hard points in the engine bay are the same, which is why this ties in with our turbo kit project.... thestratomaster
^^ cool that'd be awesome to hear. i had heard they do but i'd like to hear it right from the source
apexjapan
UPDATE: The Bad News: No, the intake for the 2.5i 08 Impreza does not work. The maf design is different. The Good News: That's because Subaru used the same MAF as the 2.5 LGT turbo models. I verified that by bolting in the MAF from my 2.5i outback into our power air kit for the Legacy turbo. The Wait For It News: I'll fit the entire power air intake to the car tomorrow, and see how the fitment is "out of the box". I'll take some photos at that time. apexjapan
Spent the day test fitting our Legacy GT power air intake to the 2.5i Outback. Well, I think the photos below tell the story even better than I can.... http://www.avoturboworld.com/media/na_intake/intake_014.jpg http://www.avoturboworld.com/media/na_intake/intake_015.jpg http://www.avoturboworld.com/media/na_intake/intake_016.jpg Fits just fine, started right up! apexjapan
Don't have a LGT turbo MAF on hand to check, so can't say for certain without both back to back with some verniers. The MAF sensor is the same, which is all that matters for our intake kit. I'm fairly certain that the part number on the sensor will be the same. I wouldn't be that surprised if the air box is the same, just so Subaru could keep costs down. BennnGeee
are you going to at least add another pipe on there or heat shield or something? All that is right now is a hot air intake... =/ no bueno
apexjapan
Yes, next step is going to be a cold air box setup as well. Even so, as it is it's not too bad, as it is a good way into the wheel well, which has colder air available, plus the factory cold air intake can stay in place as well, which routes cold air to it. OhBe1
If the sensor itself is the same, but the internal diameter is different, then more air is flowing than the ECU thinks. It may get lean... 06LOB2.5i MT, JDMRSB, GYTTs, HPS, LGT Mufflers & Leather Wheel, SubiMomo Knob, Inalfa Moonroof, Clutch Switch Bypass, DeDRLd, DeChimed, & Straight Headrest. BennnGeee
Thats why you reprogram it... a nice unplug of the battery will reset the kam in the pcm and it will relearn all by itself.
