Zues Marine
i went to idaho.. go to rallitek dude, they'll hook you up there
Baddog
I will give them a call tomorrow to see what they can do. Would a 2.25" exhaust work for the EJ20T as far as flow goes. I know I would need a different set of headers. Rallitek also fab up a set of headers?
Zues Marine
im not sure on turbo'd applications if 2.5is good, i think more of the wrx guys are running 2.5-3 you should ask rallitek, they just may be able to,,, and theyd do waaay better of a job than a shop
Baddog
I believe the STI stock came with a 2.25" exhaust or maybe it was 2.5. I could be wrong though. I hope they could make an exhaust
subikid90
check out PDX tuning also they do custom fab stuff. I have a buddy that uses them a ton for this 240. -Subikid90 1997 Legacy GT 5spd & EJ251 w/EJ25D heads ~10.5CR 1998 Legacy GT Limited waiting for EJ22T hybrid swap
Baddog
Does he happen to know what they would charge for an exhaust?
subikid90
I will ask him and see if he knows. The specialize in subis so they may have some parts laying around they can fab together for you for a good deal. http://pdxtuning.com/ -Subikid90 1997 Legacy GT 5spd & EJ251 w/EJ25D heads ~10.5CR 1998 Legacy GT Limited waiting for EJ22T hybrid swap

subikid90
Also check craigslist i have seen a few wrx/sti stock exhausts for sale for a reasonable amount. As far as price wise if you can find already bent pipes that just need flanges/extentions it will cost you a ton less. -Subikid90 1997 Legacy GT 5spd & EJ251 w/EJ25D heads ~10.5CR 1998 Legacy GT Limited waiting for EJ22T hybrid swap
Baddog
Are you talking about mid pipe to axle back? And will the stock exhausts bolt right up? Headers are my only main concern. I heard the mid pipe for the WRX/STI would need to have some length added on. Flanges are dirt cheap so that would be a nice route if that's what you're referring too. Also would they bolt up to a header flange that would be 2.25"? I thought WRX/STI exhausts were 2.25" no?
subikid90
I don't know about the sizes, im confused on what you are asking, but if you make the header 2.25" and the mid pipe is the same then it should work. Having the 10" added to the mid pipe should cost no more than $75 with the flanges added. So for probably $150 you could have headers back done. -Subikid90 1997 Legacy GT 5spd & EJ251 w/EJ25D heads ~10.5CR 1998 Legacy GT Limited waiting for EJ22T hybrid swap
Baddog
Yeah that's what im asking. But I am trying to figure out the pipe diameter of the WRX exhaust. Or does that even really matter? As long as the flanges line up right? So 150 for WRX exhaust with the mid pipe being extended and then whatever the price for headers is would hopefully be about 225-250. Also do WRX's have cat back exhausts or axle back? The reason I ask is because I need to ask rallitek about it so that the headers bolt up to the WRX exhaust. subikid90
you could probably make this work http://portland.craigslist.org/wsc/pts/1754453368.html -Subikid90 1997 Legacy GT 5spd & EJ251 w/EJ25D heads ~10.5CR 1998 Legacy GT Limited waiting for EJ22T hybrid swap
Baddog
That looks smaller then a 2.25". Don't exhaust hangers need to be moved on the exhaust for the WRX exhaust?
subikid90
I don't know what the stock size and I really don't know how well that will fit in our cars. I think the bugeye exhaust is the best fit. For 5 bucks it might just be worth a try haha -Subikid90 1997 Legacy GT 5spd & EJ251 w/EJ25D heads ~10.5CR 1998 Legacy GT Limited waiting for EJ22T hybrid swap
Baddog
Would that exhaust be more free flowing? The reason I ask because it looks like the same pipe sizing as my stock exhaust.
Zues Marine
you dont want an uber giant exhaust becuase youre going to lose back pressure which is powa! +1 for pdxtuning.. i vote rallitek first though
Baddog
you dont want an uber giant exhaust becuase youre going to lose back pressure which is powa! +1 for pdxtuning.. i vote rallitek first though What size exhaust do you recommend after the headers? 2.25"? If so the WRX is 2.25".
subikid90
I have heard 2.25 is the best combo for the N/A engines. anything bigger and you lose back pressure like zues said. -Subikid90 1997 Legacy GT 5spd & EJ251 w/EJ25D heads ~10.5CR 1998 Legacy GT Limited waiting for EJ22T hybrid swap
Baddog
2.25" all the way back was my original plan. I will talk to both rallitek and PDX Tuning to see what they suggest.
Baddog
PDX Tuning doesn't answer their phones nor return voicemails so they have lost my service there unless they want to give ONE HELL of a deal on some headers to be made. And Rallitek doesn't do them. The idiot on the phone told me that "single port headers are readily available". Now I look at Rallitek a whole new way. What a moron. Baddog
Also told me that the exhaust shop they work with doesn't like to work on people's motors..........What the hell are they doing in business? Took me calling 3 times to even get a proper answer. Also asked what we found them for online and I said about $350 (for the MS3's) and he said then most shops will charge more then that to make headers. /End rant
Zues Marine
eeennnhhhhh... that doesnt sound right.. best to hit up some exhaust shops and see what they can do
Baddog
Yeah. Well I may leave the exhaust stock unless I find a decent price for headers (around 100) till I get the EJ20t.
subikid90
Wow I am surprised about both of them. I am almost positive if you get a hold of PDX they will make you headers, but the problem seems to lie in contacting them. Maybe try emailing them or give them a day or two. -Subikid90 1997 Legacy GT 5spd & EJ251 w/EJ25D heads ~10.5CR 1998 Legacy GT Limited waiting for EJ22T hybrid swap
