c-lo
I've got this black gunk on the inside of one of my rims. Looks like I drove through a tar pit or something and all the was affected was this one part of my rim. What's the best way to get rid of it? I use simple green to clean my rims, but think I need something stronger 258k miles - Stock engine/minor suspension upgrades/original shocks/rear struts replaced at 222k/4 passenger side wheel bearings/3 clutches/1 radiator/3 turbos
Guest *Jedimaster*
It's a good idea to take the rims off every now and then and clean the insides of them. Especially if you have an accumulation of tar, etc because that can actually throw the wheel out of balance.
pflo
i used WD-40 and a rag. then followed up with some generic household cleaner and i got all the tar-like stuff off nicely. i wonder where it came from??
devobuzz
I had it to some degree on all my rims - I believe this was discussed before and it's overspray from the undercoating that Subaru generously slops everywhere...
wayne53
I bought a wheel brush from auto zoo a few weeks ago. Works great, even inside the rim. But, I have really stubborn grease around my lug nuts, so I'm going to take off my rims this weekend and give them a good scrubdown.
