Question about springs

Recommended Posts

i decided im going to lower the legacy. i ve done some research about the different brands that offer springs and now im just spinning in circles. im not sure which brand i want to get. I dont plan on upgrading the struts anytime soon. Any recommendation would be greatly appropriated. If anyone has pics of before and after stance please post them. thanks

I've been running Vogtland springs for almost 2 years now with stock struts. No issues, no clunk, no sag. Slight reduction in body roll, pitch and dive but also a slight increase in bounciness over dips and bumps since the stock struts are under dampened. The difference in ride quality isnt significant since I periodically drive my mom around and she didnt notice anything. I dont know of anyone else with these springs, but they are a big name with the Non Hella Flush BMW/VW crowd. Advertised drop is 1.2".

Dont have a before shot, but here's the after:

The general rule is that any drop of more than an inch will require upgrading the struts, unless you have the spec.b bilsteins. I just got my h-tech's in yesterday, and am waiting on a friend who has access to a bay and compression tool to help me swap them out. The h-tech's are rated to just under a 1 inch drop, so I'm not planning on swapping the struts either. I think STi pinks are a little under a 1 inch drop and there was a member selling some in the member classified section.

Right now, fred beans has a thread going in the vendor classifieds for a sale on tein springs and coilovers. Just post there with the springs you want and your zip code and they'll PM you a price.

My bad on the pinks link. There wasn't much info about them, just that he had some and I just assumed that if he was selling them here, they would be for a Legacy.

The Fred Beans thread is still good though. The service was quick too; I placed my order last wednesday and the springs were on my front step yesterday afternoon when I got home from work.
