Sumbex
Hi, I've been getting what sounds to me like a tire noise, its a low hum when I slow down that goes away when accelerating. However the tire "specialist" believes it to be the transfer case going bad. The care doesn't grind, shift hard, or vibrate. The wheel doesn't have play so I dont think its the wheel bearing(could be wrong). The only problem is a low humming sound that seems to come from the front end, passenger side door. So my question is, what are signs/sounds that would indicate the transfer case going bad?
Mad1
Is this a Subaru tire specialist? Unless you have done something like run different size tires I would be checking wheel bearings and CV joints.
rao
+1, about the last thing that is going to go bad is the center differential. It is not heard of, but that would be rare. If the noise is coming from the transmission, then the odds are that is the bearings, which is more common of a problem. Rob IF YOU CARE ABOUT YOUR CAR YOU SHOULD NEVER DRIVE IT
