It's still kinda pointless IMO as I just use my hazards in that situation. I feel like I'm draining the battery really quick with that switch since all the taillights are on. The other great one is the cruise control takeover, where it performs switch functions when it is not in cruise. That one will be much harder, but much more rewarding.
