technicalgarage
I have two 2005 LGT wagons: one 5MT and another a 5EAT and was replacing the battery in the 5MT the other day.I just happened to notice after checking both cars, that the 5EAT had a group 35 battery, while the 5MT an 85. Why the difference? Anybody know?
bluesuby
I "bought" a replacement battery with Subiebucks back in December and the replacement is several inches taller than the original. The width and length are the same. I was told Subaru "upgraded" the battery and it's more powerful than the old version. The new battery barely fit. I use an acid-absorbing "mat" on the tray, and the hold down has very little of the threaded rods coming through, just enough to secure it. outahere
the most significant difference is height. A group 35 battery is 0.9" taller than a group 85 battery. Group 35 batteries seem to also be more readily available, from a variety of sellers, than group 85 batteries
