Terraclean (?) Seems silly to me...

Recommended Posts

Hi folks,

I see that Subaru of Canada recommends Terra Clean every 48,000 kms.

Huh? What's this?

Being curious, I looked it up (http://www.terraclean.net) and I see that right away the nonsense begins, e.g. "molecularly modified fuel" blah blah blah "negatively charged gas molecules" etc.

OK, I'll get right to it - I am not a fuel specialist. But I am a scientist and I do know a little about chemistry, and this is just crap. You can't change the polarity ( I assume that is what they mean) of a molecule without somewhat changing the molecule, and the family of organic molecules in gasoline are basically non-polar to begin with...

So we'll assume that this is just some misguided marketing BS, and that alone makes me very suspicious of the product. However, to be fair, I'll focus on what it is supposed to do and not how it may or may not do it.

So does anyone have any experience with using it, and does it do a good job of cleaning injectors??

Better than the regular $5 injector cleaners?

Different enough to be worth >$120 for the treatment?

IMHO, this is a cash grab for the dealers, and I am ashamed of Subaru for trying to legitimize this.

Any thoughts? I have a thick skin...

Do it right the first time.........or don't bother doing it at all.
