That just sounds like your PS pump is broken... or on it's way out... mine never "locks" up... it's always free moving... take it to the dealer (if you're still under warranty) and show them what your seeing (if you can replicate the issue). It never happens when I plug-in the block heater. Mine lasted for a couple years, before it began to do the noise before it engaged the flywheel. When that started a couple weeks back, I knew it was time. 305,600miles 5/2012 ej257 short block, 8/2011 installed VF52 turbo, @20.8psi, 280whp, 300ftlbs. (SOLD). CHECK your oil, these cars use it.
