SLegacy99
Leave the Forester X to be fuel efficient. XT-Sport is supposed to be lower production, and hotter performance. Nevertheless, its still factored into their CAFE standards.
IwannaSportSedan
Which is a reminder that government intervention is the problem, not the solution. Ultimately it drives up costs, and down product diversity. Costs going up cuts off innovation and even some of the slightly more costly features that can actually help over-all efficiency. Efficiency should be a market selling point for those who want it, not a government mandate.
SLegacy99
Nevertheless, gas prices will go back up, sales of said vehicle will be far fewer and Subaru would have wasted money developing a vehicle for nothing.
Habitual Line Stepper
It shouldn't take an entire work week solid to swap a drivetrain, engine, and suspension bits. If you want to do it right, yes it does. "I for one do not doubt you, dude. Your car is fast and an internet legend." -Gire
IwannaSportSedan
Oh, I know doing it the first time ever, and being meticulous about it could very well take that long. But once it is established, and known... it should go faster than that.
IwannaSportSedan
Nevertheless, gas prices will go back up, sales of said vehicle will be far fewer and Subaru would have wasted money developing a vehicle for nothing. yeah, because developing vehicles that people want is not their business or anything. They'll just build one box to fit the lowest common denominator, whether people like it or not, and then petition the government to FORCE people to buy it via C4C subsidies, and over-regulation of the industry, and outlawing old cars via emissions regulations, or some other technicality. Force people out of what they have, to put them in something they don't want, but is the only option... Sounds fantastic, and like a winning strategy to control people's lives... except for the fact that it fails every time it has been historically tried. The people that buy STI's are not concern about gas mileage or gas prices.

Damn right I did not mind spending the 4.50 a gallon for 93, although I drive my STI 4 times a month then and drove my corolla to work all the time, I still did not mind.
