PCvillain
My glove box wont latch and the little plastic knobs have pathetic stops!!!!!!! That glove box is heavy as hell [must be for crash reasons] since it has a big metal bar welded into it. But Subaru didn't design the stops well since they are held in with the thin plastic on the side causing the box to twist making the latch not hold or the latch is screwed. Any ideas to fix this? Took apart the unit but will probably have to exchange to get the latch to work.
Gire
Since 2005 many have complained that in order to close it in one shot, you have to push it up 'pushin right in the sweet spot'. Otherwise it falls open again. Practice, practice, practice! How often are you in the glove box? Every day? I go in there about once a month so it never bothered me too much if I had to slam it closed 2 or 3 times to have success.

Scotty
Mine used to fail to latch and mysteriously open by it self. Then I figured out how to change the cabin air filter, and it never did it again. So it was probably misaligned.
theGeneral
Try lightly bending the metal latch one way or the other, it might help.
king_j
i have same the same problem, no mater how i close it or how hard i slam it, it wont stay shut. the locking latch in/on the glove box door is the problem, imo.
