Now that people have them...where's the good stuff?

Recommended Posts

I waited two years for springs and struts on the 02 WRX. While some JDM parts will fit, it will still take a while for quality parts to be designed, tested, and produced. Patience leads to quality! :)

I'm not at all interested in mods or aftermarket parts fitment. I am, however, interested in the underside of the stock GT, just because I like that stuff. Kevin

BullShizzle! Kevin is right. Did those who have forget those who want? We should be swimming in information right now. It's probably because a true gearhead hasn't gotten a new Leg yet. Once that happens then we will see it dissected. But you are correct Kevin, we seem to still be int he dark!
It's because all of teh n00bs got teh cars first!!11
More like they only felt the need to sign-up once they actually had an order in and didn't see the need to partake in the pre-release frenzy.

Traffic is already up 40% over last month so far. Definitely seeing an up trend since its hit the mags and its hitting the dealership. Lots of lurkers finally joining our excitement.

Yes, I'm a noob. I admit it. Ok, I'm taking photo requests. Please be as specific as possible on what angle's or how you want photo's set up. As for some further impressions... it does feel a bit sluggish down below 2200 to 2300 rpms but really picks up around 2500. It's quite fun even as I'm trying to keep it below 4K. So far just tooling around town in it mostly. I'll have to go looking for some twisties soon though as I'm getting a bit more comfortable with it's capabilities. Like I've said, it's got way higher limits than I have skills so I'll need some professional instruction to really make it sing! :D   -Ian

I'm going to have to raise the flag on Ian being a n00b. Sounds good overall. I don't mind some lag, isn't that what our 2.5L NA is after all. Franz, perhaps we'll have to do a little bit of touring around the state and show them off and get some miles on.

OK, maybe not a n00b to the forums, but definitely a n00b car enthusiast. My previous enthusiast experience was reading every Car & Driver my Dad got cover to cover. Alas, that was a long time ago. -Ian
Ride height, fender gaps, pictures of the underside (suspension/brakes/brakeline setups), rear links, swaybar links, swaybar sizes...let's go, people. Kevin
OK, here's a few more you slave driver!   At least I hope this is what you were looking for or can gather the information you desire from them (since nobobdy responded to my request for instructions  ). Aaaahhhh...chassis porno. Thanks a lot, Ian. Great shots and it looks, from the setup, like we won't need to do much to the rear of the car. It's also interesting that the Leggy is the rare Scooby to not have the "nose up" profile. Most of them have more fender gap at the front than the rear, but the reverse is true of the GT. Also, looks like a lot of steel instead of aluminum. Not sure if the JDM cars are any different, but that might be one place that people could nibble, for those looking to shave weight. If the JDM cars are the same, never mind. The swaybar attachment setup is also very interesting. It looks to be mounted in the spot that would make it the most effective, as opposed to the old-school Subaru way of having the tabs about a quarter of the way along the swaybar, with the rubber swaybar links. The Legacy's way looks a lot more rigid, hence effective. I would imagine that because of this, extreme care will need to taken for those contemplating going larger on the swaybar. Extremely negative handling artifacts could be the unfortunate result. Thanks again for doing that. I really appreciate it. Kevin

You're welcome Kevin. Glad you were able to glean the info you were looking for. Shall I do the front as well? I think I know what you're talking about. I do know what the sway bar is but the rest of it is a bit foreign. Looking forward to learning more though! -Ian

Good points about the rear bar, Kev. That is an interesting-looking solution. And those pics also showed one more thing... the dreaded RE92s! I really think I'm going to have to get some PZero Nero's put on at time of delivery....

I was more interested in the rear, but the front would also be verrry nice, sir. Many thanks in advance. :D Kevin
