just wondering

Is that "steam cleaning" where you just put some water into the throttle body safe? I just get the feeling that it would mess up the combustion process...

Its perfectly safe, as long as you go slooooooow. By slow, I means taking fifteen minutes to drizzle twelve ounces of water into the motor.

The danger is if you dump a bunch of water in at once it will fill the combustion chamber and hydrolock the motor. Best case in that scenario is the motor stalls, you pull the spark plugs and crank the motor to shoot the water out the holes and then replace the plugs, change the oil and everything is fine. Worst case, you bend a connecting rod and destroy the motor.
