McDowell Performance Tunin
Alright, here are two more 3rd gear WOT runs with a before and after learning view. The first leaning view shot is on the left and the other is on the right.romraiderlog_20091014_165537.csvromraiderlog_20091014_165645.csv www.facebook.com/mcdowelltuning [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Click Here for Stage1, Stage2 and Stage3 Tuning and eTuning Info
mickeyd2005
The WOT logs look good. Whenever you have a chance, log all your driving using the same parameters. You can then use that to figure out whether or not your timing in the non-WOT region is good or not. You probably need to pull a little bit of timing in some high-load partial throttle regions. However, you won't find it until you drive through that region and log it.
McDowell Performance Tunin
Here is some driving around for a bit earlier today. The parameters are a bit different, but it only shows 1 knock in the logromraiderlog_20091014_142833.csv www.facebook.com/mcdowelltuning [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Click Here for Stage1, Stage2 and Stage3 Tuning and eTuning Info
mickeyd2005
I would ignore that one. It's probably noise. You have to drive more aggressively.
McDowell Performance Tunin
I have been, I just didn't a chance to log those. McDowell Performance Tunin
Ok, I've tweeked a bit with the timing and WGDC and these are the results: 2 WOT in third with a leaning view after. If these are looking stable, what's my next step to give a bit more power to my car? Increase WGDC another 5-10*? Input on logs is greatly appreciated. *NOTE* I FORGOT TO TAKE THE SCREEN SHOT FOR LEARNING VIEW. IT WAS JUST LIKE THIS, BUT ONLY -.70 INSTEAD OF -1.75 IN 4800-5800rpm 1.60+romraiderlog_20091022_180217.csvromraiderlog_20091022_180336.csv www.facebook.com/mcdowelltuning [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Click Here for Stage1, Stage2 and Stage3 Tuning and eTuning Info
mickeyd2005
Before you proceed, you need to drop base timing at 4000 rpm in all cells above 2.0 g/rev by 1.05 degrees. You also have some knock somewhere between 4800-5800 rpm above 1.6 g/rev. I don't know where it is because it didn't occur in the log. You can subtract 1.05 degrees in all of the cells between 4800-5800 rpm and above 1.6 g/rev to be safe.
mickeyd2005
It looks good. The next step is to activate the ramping hack. You will see that your WGDC is capped at 30.2 initially. That's due to the ramping feature that Subaru added to slow down boost buildup. Then do another log. Then add 10%.
mickeyd2005
BTW, don't log ignition base timing. You already have access to the rom so you don't need to log this. Log TOTAL timing. Don't log AFR Correction. It's not useful in a WOT log since WOT is open loop.
McDowell Performance Tunin
Alright, here is a WOT with the ramping off. I also adjusted timing a bit more as I had a bit of knock. I added a few extra parameters, so just ignore them.romraiderlog_20091026_141653.csv www.facebook.com/mcdowelltuning [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Click Here for Stage1, Stage2 and Stage3 Tuning and eTuning Info
mickeyd2005
Don't use the target boost in the logger. It can confuse you because it is relative to sea level. It's better to use Airboy's spreadsheet. The log looks good. Increase WGDC initial and max. Remember that the delta between WGDC max and initial should be unchanged from the original tune. McDowell Performance Tunin
Will do this afternoon. But I'm not sure I'll be able to due some WOT because it's snowing in Salt Lake. www.facebook.com/mcdowelltuning [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Click Here for Stage1, Stage2 and Stage3 Tuning and eTuning Info
McDowell Performance Tunin
here you go. still looks good. next steps for more power? the learning view was after the run.romraiderlog_20091027_134427.csv www.facebook.com/mcdowelltuning [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Click Here for Stage1, Stage2 and Stage3 Tuning and eTuning Info
McDowell Performance Tunin
I'm thinking my next step will be putting an sti uppipe and gut the second cat and leave the third on the DP. What gains could be expected with these mods, after fine tuning? www.facebook.com/mcdowelltuning [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Click Here for Stage1, Stage2 and Stage3 Tuning and eTuning Info
mickeyd2005
Did you double check your ramping fix? It was fixed in the previous iteration but it isn't in the most recent log. Look at your WGDC.
McDowell Performance Tunin
Yeah, I just realized I read your post wrong. I'll check the box again if you think I should and log some more. McDowell Performance Tunin
went back into RR and checked the box and re-flashed. McDowell Performance Tunin
Alright, change of plans. I just finished gutting my dp (first cat connecting to the turbo only) and have used mickeyd's stage 2 map off of an 05. I copied everything over to mickeyd's stage 1 map, since my car is an 06. I dropped WGDC 10% and cut a bit of timing in areas I've had problems with in the past. I'll post some logs and LV later. I still have the catted UP, but am getting a new one off another member who has an STI UP. What WHP would you expect out of this set up, once I'm finished tuning? Everything else is completely stock. Thanks www.facebook.com/mcdowelltuning [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Click Here for Stage1, Stage2 and Stage3 Tuning and eTuning Info
mickeyd2005
Start with 20% lower WGDC. The only stage 2 map that I posted was fairly aggressive and it was tuned for higher octane. It may not work well with your setup.
