Disappointed

You know you should try and act your age and not your shoe size you.

This forum is for people to share information, ideas and opinions. Obviously not everyone will agree with everyone else's ideas and opinions. You seem to be one of those immature/blinded individuals that probably could not comprehend that anything other than the brand they love (in this case Subaru) could ever be good or worth while. Everyone else here has contributed something useful to my statement but you. What a wanker!

I read your reply and look at that picture and think: VALIDATION- you completely make my point you crybaby. I'm can post my opinion here like everyone else- If you want to be treated with respect and dignity, might I suggest NASIOC? Bhah hah ha

I think the OP is more referring to your delivery and not necessarily just the fact you disagree with him.

Exactly my point! Everyone can disagree with me and that is fine.

That said, he's not worth my time. Thanks to all those with mature responses.

Sorry to hear you aren't enjoying the experience you thought it would be.

I love my Legacy. I have 45k on it with no issues except a worn seat cover, still on first set of brakes and still have 10-15k left on the original tires.

This site is full of threads and posts from buyers that unproductively complain about this or that. Rattles, squeaks and leaks happen and can usually be fixed if they are identified and isolated. You can use the search function and find tons of information on this. I fixed a rattle in the dash in about 20 minutes that had been annoying me for months. Thanks to the folks that posted the specific instructions.

It seems from the OP post that he were not asking how to fix a specific item, but just lamenting that the Legacy doesn't measure up to car x, y, or z. If this is the case, then I must agree with Rimfaxe that this is unproductive and has been hashed to death here, albeit his delivery was less that PC, I can understand how the OP's post could be construed as yet another whine...

That said, the picture was kinda funny IMO and I laughed out loud when I saw it. Everyone should just lighten up and not take things so seriously. If you need help with a specific problem, there are many people around that will pitch in and help.

Rattles do seem to be VERY hit and miss. Very few on mine. Sorry you got bitten..that does suck. Maybe I'm just not sensitive to them?? Nobody else has ever commented while on a ride..and this is coming from "car guys" who I drive to lunch here and there who have all owned BMWs, Mercs etc.

Fingers crossed...

I gotta say, I came from a 2001 GTI VR6 that I absolutely loved, I had it for 6 years and put on over 70k miles. Talk about rattles, WOW! My 2005 Legacy GT Wagon I bought used has 70k miles on it now and it only has 1 rattle, the dash. By point of comparison the Subaru is a much better car than my mk4.

I think most of the complaint here though isn't about the rattles in a car, but rather the rattles in a NEW car. We all expect a quiet, smooth, solid riding car when we purchase one, when that feeling goes away we get diasspointed. That is completely understandable. However, over time the Subaru should hold up better than the VW, especially the R32 (no offense) especially with DSG.

I test drove a Passat V6 when several years ago. My wife was driving and pulled out of the car dealership and into traffic. At the second stoplight, the engine died and would not restart. This of course was in the MIDDLE of the busy intersection. The dealership had to send another car to pick us up and a Tow Truck to retrieve the car.

Similar story. I was seriously considering a new Jetta TDI Sportwagen. I went and drove a sedan, because that's all they had with a 6MT. About 10 minutes into the drive, people were maddly honking at me and pointing! The salesman said "the reputation of these cars gets around, doesn't it!"

Got to a stop light as the car became engulfed in smoke.

The right rear caliper seized, and the pads had all but caught fire. When we got back, upon inspection, there was SIGNIFICANT black soot on the wheel, and the rim was schorchingly hot. I'm not convinced that it DIDN'T catch fire.

My 09 OBXT has a small rattle from the sunroof control area. A little foam, and I'm sure it'll take care of it. I've had so much trouble with the dealer recently (that's actually the reason I have an OBXT instead of the 09 N/A I origianlly bought), that I wouldn't trust them to fix a sandwich.

Can anyone post a link to the dash rattle fix that several have mentioned here please?

Opie, it's a brand new car, with a bumper to bumper warranty. I say take it in to the dealer.

I tried that numerous times, the dealer took it for a quick spin and told me, "we didn't hear anything, now be on your way." They don't give two shits. And I agree with the OP personally, I DID NOT get 30K worth of car with this thing. Speaking strictly on rattles, my 91 Ford T-bird SC had less rattles during my ownership from 2002-2008 than my LGT did in the first year alone. It's poor build quality, plain and simple. The FORD, also never broke down and left me stranded on the side of the road in the middle of nowhere . . . but that's off topic.

Agreed, when I take it for my next service I'll mention the passenger door and sunroof rattles.

Tomorrow I'm driving from Boston to Toronto Canada for a week to visit family. I'm looking forward to the 8.5 hour drive.

Rattle can be specific problem to yoru car. But never expect the comfort of European cars from the Japanese. I was living in Europe and I was driving an Opel Astra which was far cheaper than an Audi. I was also dissappointed when I bought my Subaru. I also drive Audi allroad , you can not compare the quality of materials inside the car with LGT. However I l love my Subaru, you cannot find the noise of a boxer engine in an Audi.
