kneedragger
I picked up another set of Bilsteins but one of the rears has a little problem. Whilst putting the spring and strut top on I tried to tighten the nut on top whilst holding the shaft with an allen key and this revealed the issue. The key at the top of the shaft has been completely rounded so there is nothing for the allen key to hold which means the shaft just spins and I can't tighten the nut. Does anyone know if this part can be removed from the top of the shaft and bought separately?
devobuzz
I don't know about that but just try an impact wrench on it to tighten.
aigochamaloh
+1 on the impact wrench. Very very easy.
BradyCat
If you use an impact wrench on the nut, then what's holding the shaft? 2013 Ford Taurus SHO 2009 Spec.B SWP Stg 2+ Airboy tuned 2010 Toyota Sequoia Platinum 5.
devobuzz
The impact wrench spins so fast that the shaft doesn't have a chance to spin. You won't be able to get a proper torque reading on it however.
kneedragger
Found out I can get the keyway repaired so all is good and the sledgehammer called an impact gun is not needed
devobuzz
Did you just slot it?
BradyCat
Yeah, curious, how are you able to repair it? 2013 Ford Taurus SHO 2009 Spec.B SWP Stg 2+ Airboy tuned 2010 Toyota Sequoia Platinum 5.
kneedragger
Will let you know when I get it over to the suspension guys. I presume they will fill it, drill it and then somehow create a new keyway.
