IwannaSportSedan
Alfa even has history with the boxer engine... some say that the EJ series was more a copy of the Alfasud's boxer than it was a Porsche boxer engine. Alfas have slick italian design, which no Subaru aside from SVX can claim. If Alfas come to the US via Chrysler infrastructure... Subaru might have a real problem. Hold on there. First Subaru boxer was EA engine and was introduced in Subaru 1000 in 1966. Alfasud was introduced in 1971. I don't think Alfa had boxer enignes before then. Diggs753
doubt americans will pay a premium for a car viewed as unreliable here and second rung in europe. plus, gotta love 8 forward lights and the vaginal looking grille. I think europe has some of the hotest looking cars right now.Seat,Audi ,Ford..but this is not one of them. More attracted to smaller cars with some "fun factor" lately, for some reason. Subaru's boxers may be older, but I said EJ... that engine family, especially the DOHC version, is not older than the Alfa motor... and I think the Alfa boxers were DOHC motors. I'd say the BMW 328xi is my new favorite, for now at least!

Where are you getting this info from? No, it appears, that only the very late Alfa motors (1994+) were DOHC, while EJ came in DOHC variant from the day one (1989). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Subaru_Legacy http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alfa_Romeo_33_Series http://www.alfisti.co.uk/boxerpage.htm
IwannaSportSedan
I may be wrong. I would have to re-search and find where I was reading about boxer engines in general. It was several months ago. I just remember reading that Subaru engines seemed to have more in common with Alfa's boxers, than Porsche's boxers, and a context that Subaru was emulating Alfa. Perhaps I was reading incorrectly, or whatever I was reading was wrong. With your documentation, I stand corrected. I wish Alfa still used boxers and AWD... It would probably look good to go along with it.

hutru01
That wagon is ok, I don't know if I would call it "sexy". I have to agree that the grill looks like a wagina. Do you really need that many headlamps?

IwannaSportSedan
It is called a theme. Sometimes designers do that on purpose. The tail lights are full of circles, too.
sactojesse
That wagon is ok, I don't know if I would call it "sexy". Actually, the Alfa 159 nose grafted onto a BP LGT wagon body would be even better, IMO.
sactojesse
Alfasud was introduced in 1971. The Alfasud is the reason why there's a European supply of the out of production Dellorto DRLA downdraft carburetors for my other boxer obsession, air-cooled VWs.
