BMW's newest auto...

What is with all the AWD cars with open diffs and selective wheel braking?

I know it is cheaper, but aren't more expensive viscous or helical torque sensing LSDs front and rear better?

I still wouldn't buy a 5 series, though. Ugly and iDrive, nah.

I would buy some of those angel eye rings and put one around each of the legacy's low beam projectors, though. Especially the new 3 series' crystal clear full circular ones. I like the M5's aerodynamic side mirrors, too.

I love that the new engines are now in the 5-series, they were really underpowered with the old units.

By the way, how p1ssed off would you be if you just spent $55K on a

BMW 530i a couple months ago, only to find that the new 2006's

are getting the 255 hp engine?

Or worse, spending $45K on a weak 525i with a wimpy 185 hp engine

when the 2006's will get 215 hp and cost about the same price.

How pissed was I when I got an '02 with 5-speed and no NAVI then the '03s had 6 speed and you could get Navi with In dash CD which you couldn't in '02. That kind of thing happens its just somethign you deal with.

Yeah, but an option or two is one thing, a new and much improved

engine is another. Especially a year after the complete redesign.

This is the kind of thing we're talking about in the "speculation" 2006 LGT

thread. If Subaru suddenly offered quite a few changes, and a major engine

upgrade to the 2006 LGT, and it was priced only a grand or two higher, we'd

all be a bit ticked off, to say the least.

The customer buying either the 525 or 530 wouldn't be too concerned with the upgrade IMO. After all, the serious driver would go 545 all the way.
