FrozenNorthLGT
Well after changing low beam after low beam (4 total) in less than a year of owning this car, I finally decided to swap to HID's. I choose the Volt Digital kit in 4300K for the most possible output from the lights. I was not concerned with getting the blue look that says "HEY! look at my HID's." I wanted function over "rice." The install went good, one or two small hiccups, (drill a 3/4" hold not 1"...lol...), and getting the bulbs orientated correctly took a minute of thinking since they are, oddly I thought, tabbed in two places, where a normal H7 is only tabbed in one. I had trouble at first getting the factory plug in to fit into the harness, but a little convincing and all was good. Any way, here are the results. I couldnt be more pleased. Oh, and after the install I made sure to aim my headlights since I got flashed a couple times on the way home. They were spot on spec, but I dropped the dirvers side about 1.5" just to be polite. It's probably because of the "glare" issue, but I'll live with it for now, and I've driven in another car at mine at night now, and the lights are no worse than any lifted truck with its low beams right in your face... Enough delay, here's the pics..

HuRRiC4Ne
Very nice cutoff on that setup. Since you went with a 4300k, i'm curious if if the halogen projectors emit a slight blue hue at the end of the cut off like proper HID projectors and cutoffs (a twinkling blue from a distance). Thats the blue that ricers try to achieve, instead of doing things right, they go with 8000k headlights for a constant blue and scattered emitting light that blinds everyone. But yeah, you have a nice setup, thats something I would want!
SpecBGuy
it does look blue but 4300k is the closest u get from to stock hids and i guess volt 4300k is more on the blue side but i prefer more white then blue. cant complain for the price
FrozenNorthLGT
The first pics I posted are some of the ones that look the most blue due to the angles I think, here are some others that show a bit more of the white vs. blue. From inside the car you dont get any of the blue effect, just a brilliant white. From in front of the car, like half a mile or more you get a bit of blue at the cut off, but once you get closer it shifts to a nice bright white with maybe a slight hint of blue (3rd and 4th pics). As far as the cut off goes, it's just the stock projectors. Id like to do a complete retro with the RX330 projectors, but money/time/and of opening the headlights...lol...mean that will have to wait. For now, this is a great improvement over stock, and at the very least, will save money replacing the bulbs every 3 months.
xenon expert
Correct. The Legacy projectors don't make color shift like BMW Audi etc. It's not the bulbs. It's the projectors they use. Oliver

FrozenNorthLGT
Yeah I debated for a while between 4300K and 6000K. I made my decision based on light output vs. pretty color. I am both pleased with the color, and the increase in visibility from the 4300K kit. I havent seen a 6000K in person obviously, but I cant imigine that I would like it more than I like this. OhBe1
FrozenNorth - in your first post, the last pic is HID, the 2nd last stock, correct? Looks like the bit of glare (IIRC, AKA "squirrel finder") is visible in OEM as well as HID - Makes sense, as I think that's DOT-mandated. I'm guessing the geometry of the HID bulb makes it more visible, not just the increase in intensity. Not sure where I'm going here, just observing... 06LOB2.5i MT, JDMRSB, GYTTs, HPS, LGT Mufflers & Leather Wheel, SubiMomo Knob, Inalfa Moonroof, Clutch Switch Bypass, DeDRLd, DeChimed, & Straight Headrest. FrozenNorthLGT
You are correct on all accounts. not sure on the DOT mandated part or not though. But yes, there is a bit more glare above the cut off than there was prior. From all accounts i read that is typical. only effective way to eliminate it seems to be to open the headlights and cover the gap with some high temp material. I know that its not perfect this way, and I didnt expect it to be. I aimed the lights about an inch down in an attempt to lessen the glare to oncoming traffic, and Ive observed my car approaching at distance and its certainly not that bad. Like I said in my first post, not as bad as a lifted truck blazing its low beams right in your face. And yes, ministiguy, your RX330 retro owns all... Ive read your thread in detail, and if I had the cash laying around, Id be ALL over that. right now this is as much a money saver (hopefully) as done for looks and visibility. BradyCat
If you don't mind, what's the price for a set of Xenon's like the ones you have - looks really good by the way! Also can anyone tell me which year the Legacy got the projector beam halogen headlights like the one' on my 09? 2013 Ford Taurus SHO 2009 Spec.B SWP Stg 2+ Airboy tuned 2010 Toyota Sequoia Platinum 5.
MiniStiGuy
I'm not trying to make you feel bad or anything. If I had the money I'd sale these headlights and do another retro. If you'd like to aim them check out my aiming thread sticky'd at the top of the exterior section and see if that helps any. Oh and FYI the holes in the shields on our cars is also present in the stock xenon shields of the Rx330's. The only difference is that our lights are central focus and so a lot more of the outputted light is coming out those holes in the center. FrozenNorthLGT
I didnt think you were trying to make me feel bad. I was just acknowledging that a full retro like yours is far superior... I didnt know that the RX330 projectors had the hole as well. I dont know enough about optics to know why you dont see it above the cut off though...lol. And yes I used your thread on aiming as well. Good stuff. Like I said, I aimed them down a bit to try to be polite without sacrificing my own visibility. I dont have any urge to be the ass with the blinding headlights, but nor do I have the urge to be the polite guy that creams a deer (been there done that plenty in the past). Compromise is key, at least for now.

MiniStiGuy
my cousin runs a 55w DDM kit in his car and I let him drive mine last night and the first thing he says when he turns on my lights is "Wow, these are way more intense then mine" I'll see if I can get comparo shots with him if we can find a place to take them.
