max_stirling
I tried some searching first and got a possible answer, but not a direct answer to my porblem. I have a 2005 LGT wagon since new and the radio has been working fine since new, even after window tint install. Then recently, and very suddenly, I lost radio reception. When I'm very close to a radio source, I will get reception though, but most everywhere else, just static. I got my mechanic to look at it while doing some other work in the dash. He thinks it's either the wire from the stock head unit to the antenna or the antenna. He said that the type of connection from the stock head unit is not standard and he couldn't just stick another antenna in there, but he did just stick a wire in the antenna plug and was able to get reception. Just wondering if others have had this problem and what was the solution? I read that there was a TSB about cleaning the connections. I also read that the stock antenna is powered? Will I just need to clean the connections or will I have to get a new antenna? TIA
rao
The stock antenna (built into the glass) is amplified and if it isn't getting power, there will be very poor reception. Rob IF YOU CARE ABOUT YOUR CAR YOU SHOULD NEVER DRIVE IT
al-gorithm
I have this happening to my mom's impreza. I'm going to try to figure out where this amplifier is as the reception did not improve when I swapped in an aftermarket deck. Thanks for the info!
