Laser Interceptor

Wow, really surprised TSi+WRX hasn't been in here, he should be all over this! You're slacking!

For starters, before you buy a laser jammer you should get yourself a good radar detector. The best units are the 9500ix or the Valentine V1. The V1 will detect everything that is radar, but this includes a lot of things that aren't cops. If the extra beeping isn't worth the better range, go with the Escort 9500ix for the better filtering. If you have tons of cash laying around, you can get the 9500ci.

If you do want a laser jammer, you picked the best one (Laser Interceptor). A radar detector will usually give you good range against radar, but won't help you against laser. If you want the laser interceptor, they're having a GB on my GTO forum, you don't have to be a member or anything, $75 off. (http://www.ls1gto.com/forums/showthread.php?t=300470&highlight=laser+interceptor)

Install isn't bad at all, just need to find a place to run 2 wires through the firewall, and a level place to mount them. Power can just be pull from the fuse box with an add-a-fuse kit. I'm in Chicago (Naperville & Champaign), so if you're having trouble I could try to help. I know my way around the GTO very well, but need to start learning Subarus (don't own one yet).

You were supposed to unsubscribe. The fact that this country has retarded underposted speed limits, does not mean driving 120 mph+ is stupid or unsafe. Grow up.

My friend; it is stupid and unsafe. We do not have the "autobahn" infrastructure and just because occasionally you find a road wide enough, and smooth enough to allow sustained speeds, the drivers do not have the training or the equipment to drive at was is nearly twice the speed limit...and the emergency services are not prepared to respond to such accidents or for the matter, simple vehicle break-downs...

Go to the circuit if you have such high hormonal levels.

^^^^ I have lived in Germany and and driven he Autobahn for thousands of miles. Our roads are BETTER than the autobahn. Many of the highways in Illinois remind of of the Autobahn. My German relatives laugh at a 55 mph speed limit. I do too. Off the he autobahn two lane 'country roads' are much narrower than here and they usually have a limit of 120 km/hr, I'm guessing that about 95 mph. Drivers is Germany use the hard shoulder typically for passing and it's not uncommon for three wide to pass on a two lane road up a long winding hill. The Germans can drive circles around the Americans, they use proper following distance, proper lane selection, and they use their signal, something I always do but many Americans don't. Driver education here in the States is a joke. The autobahn over the last few years has put in variable speed limits based on traffic conditions, road conditions, accidents. Germans also issue many tickets on proper following distance (when's the last time anyone got a following to close ticket here??) and they have a very low DUI rate. They don't drink and drive period. The typical American driver is arrogant, stupid and unsafe. The beautiful thing is I like to wait very patiently while someone takes four miles to pass a truck on I-57 and then when its safe to pass I put the Hammer Down!

REBinc.... Are any of those models installed or are they dash models? I know the Laser Inceptor is installed. The level part might be the challenge to the installation...

A radar detector will check for laser but isn't it already to late after it's sounded?

umm this thread is total fail.

The autobahn has drivers who are accustomed to and are EXPECTING people to drive at double the posted speed limit here.

Not sure why this thread is still open but condoning reckless driving ain't the best call mods ;)

Wait until asshat gets in an accident and hurts someone and then you get subpoenaed for this thread :)

are you freaking kidding me man? im the one who needs to grow up?

I'm not going to grow up, I'm eighteen and very happy, and also a good driver.

You're the one who probably is much older than I, yet you act like an idiot teenager who lacks a brain.

^^^ No one here is condoning reckless driving. Speed is not reckless driving. Following to close, weaving, not looking before a lane change, DUI's, mechanically worn car, using a cell phone, phucking with the radio ALL reckless driving. Speeds of 100 plus on a dry clear day with little or no traffic is not reckless driving. I would imagaine your more of a recless drive than I am.

Driving 70 and giving yourself a car length to stop is reckless driving. Driving 100 mph and giving yourself 10 cars length's is safe. Germans get it, Americans don't.

Germans had 5,361 fatalities in 2005 on all roads. Americans has 36,285 deaths in 2008 on all roads. Which roads would you rather use? Oh Happy Easter.

I feel sorry for you. First off, you might want to spend more time learning grammar and spelling and less time putting other drivers in danger :)

Speed is reckless driving when other drivers are not expecting it.

This isn't Germany dude, read my earlier post. Just because you think you personally are safe driving at double the speed limit doesn't mean that other drivers are safe in reacting to your speed at double the speed limit.

Are you serious man? I spent two weeks touring three cities in Germany and spend PLENTY of time on the Autobahn. It blows our roadways right out of the water. 12 layers of pavement, grades no higher than 4degrees (I believe that's what it is.) The roads are excellent. I have no idea how you can compare our US roadways to the German roadways.

That's probably rarely ever done. The Europeans tend to be smarter than that. It is harder for them to get a license, their laws are stricter and it's easier for them to lose their licenses. Never once did I see reckless driving in Germany like I have here. I saw polite, courteous drivers who are in control of vehicles. The most common thing I saw was someone swinging out for a pass, flashing their brights, and the person in front of them politely moving over to allow them to complete the pass.

That last part of the only thing of yours I agree with. Including your driving style.

The best part is he keeps on talking about how bad drivers are here, driver education, etc. etc. and yet he doesn't understand why it's not safe to drive that fast here

Installed models are the Escort 9500ci, Bel STI-r, Escort SRX, Escort SR7, Bel RX-75, everything else would be dash mount. When they detect laser, it's already too late.

Over 24yrs. of driving, & the pain of speeding ticket. I learned, the follow of traffic rules. Going to fast or to slow is not good or safe. And when the two meet, that when lives are lost &, or change forever. IMO

i'm sorry dude, but i'm calling the bullshit flag on you on this, no matter what we say you have some one up story to tell us. I dont believe any of what you say now. if you wanna posts somewhere and brag about your high speed speeding tickets, go to streetracinggallery.com i'm sure a bunch of 19 year olds who drive civics would love to hear your fish stories about getting pulled over for doing double the speed limit.

What a joke. Not getting into the rest of the contents cause it is not worthy. 120 kph is 75 mph which is the speed limit in Michigan for instance. Almost 20 miles under what you reported...despite your thousands of miles of driving experience in Germany ... and in complete oblivion to the fact that the speed conversion is on the dashboard of each one of our cars.

I wanted to say get a grip - but i think "get arrested for speeding" is a safer alternative to the rest of us.

Mods lock this thread ! If he wants advice on laser / radar detectors he can search this site in Interior Forums or many other places on the internet like this one http://www.speedzones.com/

Well, apparently you need to not only to grow up as to not make assine assumptions, but also learn some manners. Your post has been reported.

Speed doesn't kill. Depending on conditions, 120 mph is relatively easy cruising speed. Also depends on the car and driver. That's all.

Again, you're also making silly assumptions. Depends on conditions. Yes, because majority of drivers are cluesless here, attaining high speeds here is usually reasonable only on totally deserted roads.

People are so brainwashed about "speed kills"... it kills me :spin:

wow... yeah.. 120 mph.. great cruising speed...

do you have any professional driving experience, or something that makes you "superior" ?

120 is not only against the law, but totally unsafe. If you do this on any public road you deserve to lose your license and get arrested.

please, go ahead, report my post.... im not exactly sure how obeying and promoting the LAW is a bad thing
