Daedalus
Scoobydoobie, I just realized that you are in VA also. Where are you? If I'm close, I can always lend a hand with what ever you need. I don't have any fab or welding skills though.

What is your set up? I'm in Charlottesville. I've got a friend with a welder, a plasma cutter, air tools etc. so we should be covered as far as getting this done, thanks though. nemo
I roll the STI Quads on my 05 wagon...with stock from there back! Sound is equal to a stock 09 STI...from a dealership comparison...they tuck under a bit but sound perfect in my opinion! J ****** sexy. but $925 ! Merc6
yeah thats what I've heard, stock cans get raspy with the increased flow of a full exhaust. What is your set up? *STi Uncatted Uppipe *Stromung Uncatted Downpipe Front *Perrin Catted Downpipe Rear *Stock Resonator Delete From Mid Pipe. *Xo2 Mufflers Newly Replaced With Stock Cans. Interior sound is nice but exterior is a lil raspy after 3k. I got what I asked for and then some. Would do hawzaust but that would defeat the reason I got the cans. No mufflers comming from the muffler shop that cut my bolts off did sound better than the stock cans. 2005 Satin White Pearl Subaru Legacy 2.5 GT Unlimited 5EAT (Project Car) 2019 Agate Black Ford Explorer XLT 4WD (DD)

Daedalus
Wouldn't removing the center resonator also cause some of the raspyness? Or only drone?
Merc6
Wouldn't removing the center resonator also cause some of the raspyness? Or only drone? Yes to both with stock cans but no to raspyness with aftermarket cans. Most assumed I had an actual TBE. Next project (when money comes) is mid resonator but not as huge as the stocker. 2005 Satin White Pearl Subaru Legacy 2.5 GT Unlimited 5EAT (Project Car) 2019 Agate Black Ford Explorer XLT 4WD (DD)
scoobydoobie
yeah, gotta say, don't like the sound of the stock cans, just sounds like raspy ruckus to me. You have drone while cruising with no resonator and stock cans? do they sound better after warming up?
Merc6
that was as warm as they get. Drone inside is too low to camera capture. It was a beefy low yet hollow flowmaster V8ish drone. Will try to capture it in half hour. 2005 Satin White Pearl Subaru Legacy 2.5 GT Unlimited 5EAT (Project Car) 2019 Agate Black Ford Explorer XLT 4WD (DD)

btlegacy
Got my stock muffler off today to compare to an MY05 USDM STi one and as you will see in the pictures there is not a huge difference. The muffler fits in the space of stock one without issue. If properly placed it should clear the sway bar mount by at least 1.5". One of the hangers on the STi muffler can be bent to fit in stock LGT location and the other 2 will need to moved and re-welded. An interesting thing that I noticed is that the piping on both mufflers follows the same line and the piping on the STi muffler actually reaches past the way and flows in exactly the same way. What I am planning now is to cut off the way and place a flange on the pipe and bolt up the STi muffler directly. As far as the other side, I am planning to take out the stock muffler and make a cap out of fiberglass or plastic to cover the hole. If this works then I will be able to place any type of aftermarket STi axleback on there as well without any extra welding. Here are some pictures i took today. http://img6.imageshack.us/img6/561/sdc11730.jpg http://img6.imageshack.us/img6/5488/sdc11734k.jpg http://img18.imageshack.us/img18/3308/sdc11732.jpg http://img6.imageshack.us/img6/8500/sdc11731.jpg http://img6.imageshack.us/img6/7853/sdc11736.jpg http://img19.imageshack.us/img19/285/sdc11735.jpg http://img6.imageshack.us/img6/3944/sdc11741.jpg http://img6.imageshack.us/img6/8688/sdc11740.jpg http://img10.imageshack.us/img10/6483/sdc11739.jpg http://img6.imageshack.us/img6/6872/sdc11738.jpg http://img6.imageshack.us/img6/8509/sdc11737.jpg http://img18.imageshack.us/img18/4250/sdc11742.jpg http://img6.imageshack.us/img6/8204/sdc11743.jpg 2005 Legacy GT 5MT Buy my stuff Here So I can build my 6.0L V8 Legacy GT Here
