Winter wheel time

Decided to put on the winter wheels. I did not really care for the look of the bright silver stockers so I went to the dark side! Let it snow!!!!!

love the dark wheels with the darker car. Really pulls together. I have the same ones on a white car and have been looking at darker wheels as I see white cars with the gun metal or black with good results. The Out back is tough to get just the right look and this is something to think about.

What was the cost? I had my SABB wheels re-painted some time ago and then Dominos delivery totaled it and a Camaro along with his car.

I painted them. For the cost of powdercoating I would just buy some new Rota winter wheels. I was not sure if I would like the metallic black color I used so painting was a great option. If I did not like the color I could change it easy enough. The original finish was scuffed with scotchbrite and then primed. Three coats of color and three coats of clear. 35 dollars and a days work and you have the new look.

you know God for bid if something ever happened to my Legacy; I've decided that I'd pick up an Outback XT.

2009 WRX rims are dark gray, and are 17x7 with 55 offset. I bet by next season plenty will be available at reasonable or low prices, as they are on the heavy side.

Righ now I'm planning to use some older LGT rims for the summer, as SCCA requires rims to have within 1/4" offset of the stocker. I weighed them at about 18 lbs, versus 23 or 24 for the stock WRX rims.

If you have some, WRX owners may want to swap. The 08's are the same, but lighter in color.

This is a photochop for comparison.

I didn't quite like the looks of those newer wheels until I saw yours painted black. A darker color looks sharp on them. Much sportier looking. I like the stockers better than the summer wheels, at least in pictures.

C-lo, No one is following you. Just noticed your birthday is 362 days after mine. Weird.

Speaking of badass, when I had my new tires put on the dealership said they could align the wheels... that they had a new setup and it would be badass. I said, "Yeah, I want my car to be badass." So they did the alignment. I still don't know where the turbo is that would make my car badass but I feel they didn't install one with the alignment.
