couple ?

What model is the screen you used?

What are the dimension of the opening you were able to make?

Its the opening that you have.. just remove the inboard computer..

does the door still close over it? What size screen is that? Looks good, but it also looks like there is a small opening a the top.

dude, the cubby is GONE! haha, jk

he sacrificed the cubby, the door, and the car computer to cram that screen in.

Lemme guess, you are not done because:

-you need to find out how to get the illumination dimmer to work correctly

-get rid of the airbag warning light (probably some kind of resistor you need to solder)

I was thinking of cutting up the entire module, but I was thinking of even going BIGGER by capping off the center vents and deleting the center vents to fit two 5" LCDs instead of 1 larger 6.5" one that you have. Or just by deleting the vents, I probably could fit a 9" LCD.

Thanks for posting some results! Love the work. Just keep working at it.

for the dimmer, just need to the good wired. it will not be hard.. Just find the wirer that make dim the rest of the light..

and as for the airbag.. I relocated the inboard computer in the ashtray location

here is a quick picture of it.. I just start to do it yesterday night.. Made it in MDF wood.. Not finish yet.. have to continu to sand it, to make it perfect fit.. just want to show "in progress"

Roby. hehe.. probably mine are smaller then yours. ;)

Fosgate.. No, did not have any trouble to remove the computer.. But, when you remove it, like Xenonk said. you got a AirBag light.. But , my plans was to relocated the computer anyway..

Is the AirBag light always on? Can the Subaru dealership reset the air bag light?

It's only when you disconnect the the screen in the pic above, And yes it will always be on cuz the airbag will not be attached correctly. I don't think they can reset it...since it's not hooked up. You could attach the display and tuck it away......Mines prob go'n to the ashtray also.....

Awesome work Mike.....can wait to see the finished product

The air bag light comes on because the indicator for the passenger airbag on the display is on that trip computer. The SRS ECU thinks it's a "malfunction" in its circuitry. What Mike is going to do is to extend the wires from the top where the computer use to be down to the center console (which isnt hard to do, just tedious work. If he just extends the wires, then it would solve all this problems and all he has to do is just reconnect the harness back onto the trip computer and he's done. My original concern was for the people who are thinking of deleting the entire trip computer all together and bypassing those two cocerns I had mentioned before (which isnt hard either I dont think, it's just a matter of doing some self-vamping clips on to the correct wires for each one of my noted concerns above.

Excellent. My plan is to relocate the trip computer. Good to know. My plan was the ashtray as well. Great minds think alike.

BTW keefe.. I just check out, and I do not need to cut, and extend the wires.. The wires is enought long to go to the ashtray location without modified it.. Just need to take out a clip that old the wire, and it will do the job..
