dammitjim Posted September 18, 2008 Posted September 18, 2008 I'd like to get an Ipod Touch for Dynolicious/Rev apps and music but I'm not sure where to mount it so it won't look like a giant wart in the car. If you've got pics of an Ipod Touch install or ideas on where to mount it post them here. I'd like to mount it horizontally in the cubby but the menus and music and a bunch of stuff will only work properly with the Ipod veritcal. Does anyone know of a workaround to this or a way to force the menus and music to work in landscape?
Regal05LGT Posted September 19, 2008 Posted September 19, 2008 Do a search, I know some of the members have ipod setups with pics
LongHiway Posted September 19, 2008 Posted September 19, 2008 Not sure I was really going to use my Touch once th enovelty wore off, I went for a Belkin FM transmitter. So, I can guess you're not interested in the transmitter part but, I like the position of the Belkin holder which is a stiff but flexible cable off of the cigarette lighter in the dash. I twist it over to the dash console on the passenger side. The cable connects to the Ipod holder and connector and swivels, allowing both vertical and horizontal use. You might use this as a concept for the cubby or where ever (I've seen some that fit to the center dash vent which is convenient but, I think causes problems later). At $90.00, the Belkin is just a concept, a bit expensive just to mod for use just as a bracket.
alaskajoel Posted September 19, 2008 Posted September 19, 2008 i'll get pictures of my setup this afternoon - i love it
gershon Posted September 20, 2008 Posted September 20, 2008 I made this bracket for my iPhone. I wanted a holder that would hold the phone without having to take the case I have my phone in off. I am sure you could make one to hold pretty much anything including your iPod. http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h163/gershon23/IMG_0691.jpg http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h163/gershon23/IMG_0690.jpg http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h163/gershon23/IMG_0689.jpg http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h163/gershon23/IMG_0688.jpg I added a metal plate to stick the metal bracket I made into. I also added a couple of aux power sources. I tapped into the cigarette lighter below the radio to power them. http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h163/gershon23/IMG_0611.jpg I also added 3.5 aux and RCA plugs. http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h163/gershon23/IMG_0730.jpg Here is a cable I bought off ebay for $14 shipped. It has a vid out. I also have a 9" LCD that sits in front of the cubby for road trips. http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h163/gershon23/IMG_0731.jpg http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h163/gershon23/IMG_0733.jpg My OB is an 06. The HU i have is from a 07 and has the factory AUX in. I have another 07 HU for sale. I am looking to get $180 + shipping. This will be a plug and play and no need to fiddle around with tapping into the wire harness in your car. I hard wired a cable into the HU. It has a cable coming out of the back that is long enough to route up to the cubby or to the armrest. I will post pics soon. Cheers!
FishingFiend Posted September 20, 2008 Posted September 20, 2008 An ipod touch maybe ok to place near the headunit, but when my iphone 3g gets close, I get the dreaded and annoying GSM speaker buzz. Try kudamount or proclip for alternative mounts.
JPU1 Posted September 25, 2008 Posted September 25, 2008 i am trying to figure out how to make this work as well....
