coathegreatone
i was wondering if anyone on here has purchased the hood scoop from japanparts called the Big Bulge? I have seen the CF insert by arc but never any word on the bulge. I personally like it better from the two pictures supplied, but it would nice to have some additional feedback/pictures to go off of. Or any notes on instal since it looks like there may be holes drilled. Thanks, here's a link to the picture of it http://www.japanparts.com/images/ImageFromDB.php?base=1&no=1703

Dergara
I recently put the ARC carbon scoop on my OBXT. It looks great. I am sure the BIG BULGE would look just as good. My question is why are these so hard to get stateside. They sell a million STI scoops of all kinds to WRX drivers every year. How can we make this easier to get here for the Legacys? “Abandon hope, all ye who enter here” -Dante Alighieri http://youtu.be/lLFunBPgPOo
coathegreatone
yeah I was thinking of the ARC but I don't like the CF look. I could paint it though
Dergara
It seems paintable, but it would be hardly noticeable then. I am sure at high speeds it forces more air in, but it is 50/50 function/looks it looks cool that is for sure. “Abandon hope, all ye who enter here” -Dante Alighieri http://youtu.be/lLFunBPgPOo
Guest LGT-NY
Bosco has that scoop, see link below. From what he says, it's pretty functional. http://www.legacygt.com/forums/showpost.php?p=2036377&postcount=2523

Dergara
So I found the link and read the info. I guess it does the same as putting a STI scoop on a WRX. It actually helped the Turbo Lag out a bit on my 2.2 liter a bit. With my ARC Scoop I have not noticed a change on the OBXT yet. My car does have the torque already so we will see how it does. Grabs a lot more air and should help in certain conditions. Mostly HWY I presume? “Abandon hope, all ye who enter here” -Dante Alighieri http://youtu.be/lLFunBPgPOo
Guest LGT-NY
It also cost like a million dollars!!!!11!
Dergara
The ARC cost about $300 with shipping and requires no paint. The Big Bulge needs paint. NOW, you could always try a 04 WRX scoop and see how it looks. There available everywhere. “Abandon hope, all ye who enter here” -Dante Alighieri http://youtu.be/lLFunBPgPOo

SlightlyEvil
A friend had that ARC stick-on CF thing like you have. Looked great, but eventually the adhesive started melting out the sides on hot sunny days and then it fell off at high speed!
Dergara
Actually the tape they sent me a role of was pretty good. The way it goes on over the scoop will prevent it from coming off, even without the 3M tape. I did have to sand down some edges for a clean tight fit and that took about 5 minutes. I then used Alcohol to clean the hood where the double stick tape would attach. I did this all in the sun for good adhesion and it looks good. Any gaps I saw close up I filled with black silicone and got rid of any access so you could not tell. The key is the temperature of the tape and the surface temp. All needs to be warm, very warm. That could happen in Arizona at over 110 degrees I guess, but proper installation is the key. “Abandon hope, all ye who enter here” -Dante Alighieri http://youtu.be/lLFunBPgPOo

dmp
Geesh - if somebody would simply make an STI replica scoop that'd work for our hoods, I'd be VERY thankful. Dergara
At first I thought it was a little rice, but since it is hardly noticeable I can live with it. Suddle design changes are not rice. Giant whale tails and spray painted yellow dash boards are rice. After my Rommell Grill arrives I will take a lot of picks. The car is finished until I have the money for some Brembos all the way around. Guest LGT-NY
Why? Our cars are supposed to be sleek and sexy. That big scoop just ruins the lines of the car IMO. Sorry Bosco.

dmp
Why? Our cars are supposed to be sleek and sexy. That big scoop just ruins the lines of the car IMO. Sorry Bosco. I don't think of the LGT as sexy. I don't particularly enjoy the lines of the car. Looks pretty good. I think the little scoop makes it look a bit like a pug - flat-nosed. A STI-replica/style scoop, though, would make the car seem more butch. Not so "I wanna be 'hard'....but I'm still all about being soft and junk" as the OEM scoop portrays. Truth in lending - I have seen a few LGTs I think are VERY sexy. Mine doesn't do it for me, though. SOLD | '06 spec.B - VF52/AVO/740cc/Up/Down | 238awhp | 50-80mph 3.1 seconds.
